Double Time (Sinners On Tour #3) Review

Double Time: Sinners On Tour by Olivia Cunning

Book description...
Olivia Cunning delivers the perfect blend of steamy sex, heartwarming romance, and a wicked sense of humor in this menage story featuring the hottest guy in the Sinners band.
Trey Mills, the notoriously sexy Sinners rhythm guitarist, gives up his bisexual lifestyle and is swept into a hot, heady romance with Reagan Elliot, a female rock star sensation. But when Trey encounters Reagan's sexy bisexual roommate, Ethan Conner, he can no longer deny who he is or what he wants. Reagan heartily agrees to a solution that opens up a hot new world of sexual experience--and love--with the two men she wants the most.

Have you ever seen something somewhere and thought "Ohmigod, I have to have that!"?  Yeah?  Me too... On Netgalley... where I saw Double Time was up and waiting to be reviewed... I seriously think I jumped up and down and clapped a little when I got that email saying "Thanks for requesting a title from NetGalley's Public Catalog. You can now access the title by logging into NetGalley."  That's all it took to make me one happy girl... because when it comes to the Sinners... Trey is my favorite!

I've known since Backstage Pass that I was going to fall and fall hard for Trey and his sultry green eyes... what I didn't know what HOW hard I was going to fall.  And let me tell you I fell hard.  He is such a doll but yet he's kind of emotionally broken in a sense, because he's in love with Brian and has been for so long... I feel for you Trey because I'm a little in love with Brian myself!  But then he meets Reagan and he decides he wants to do the whole exclusive thing, because he can see there is something different about her, something special!

There was so much to love about Reagan... I mean seriously, not only is she sweet but she can adapt to her element without changing who she is no matter where she is.  Which is exactly why she fit in so well with Exodus End.  She's got trust issues and some major insecurities ever since walking in on her ex-boyfriend getting it on with another man.  So when she meets Trey and he seems so interested she can't help but start to fall for him... even though deep down she knows something is "missing" from their relationship.

So Trey and Reagan start to fall hard and fast for each other but just as Reagan knows deep down that something is missing, Trey tries to ignore it... for as long as he can... which is approximately 5 minutes after meeting her extremely gorgeous roommate Ethan.   At this point in the book the temperature levels went from smoldering to full fledged inferno!  I'm not big on reading explicit male on male encounters... but I am definitely not one to deny that even I was a little hot and bothered by the chemistry between Trey and Ethan... okay a lot hot and bothered... add Reagan to that mix and I was sitting here wishing my husband wasn't at work!

The only problem I had with this book was the fact that I felt like I was missing something... because Olivia had originally planned for Trey's book to be the last in the series.  I'm not feeling overly satisfied.   Honestly?  I'm feeling a little cheated.  But with that said, if I had it to do over again... No way would I miss another opportunity to read Double Time as the 3rd book in the Sinners On Tour Series!

The Sea of Tranquility Review

The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay

Book description...
Full of rage and without a purpose, former pianist Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone discovering her past and to make the boy who took everything from her pay.
All 17 year-old Josh Bennett wants is to build furniture and be left alone, and everyone allows it because it’s easier to pretend he doesn’t exist. When your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.
Everyone except Nastya, a hot mess of a girl who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. The more he gets to know her, the more of a mystery she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he may ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding or if he even wants to.
The Sea of Tranquility is a slow-building, character-driven romance about a lonely boy, an emotionally fragile girl, and the miracle of second chances.

Please Note: This book contains mature content including profanity, drug/alcohol use, and sexual situations/language.

I have been sitting on this book for a few days now... sitting here at the computer off and on trying to force myself... wait force is not a good word because that implies I didn't like the book, which I did, a lot... anyway, I've sat here at the computer with the screen opened up to write my review and all I do is sit... My fingers don't want to seem to move, my brain has completely flown out the window, and I'm about in tears because I really want to give The Sea of Tranquility the review I think it deserves... but I'm stuck.  So I opened up my kindle and read my highlighted quotes, and here's what did it for me....
"Besides, since I'm apparently the spawn of Satan, or possibly Dracula, depending on who you ask, it can never hurt to throw a little crazy out there just to drive the message home before the weekend."
I cracked up at that quote... seriously... because it describes exactly how I pictured Nastya when I first began the book and yes I know that is extremely judgmental and a little self absorbed.. but come on, we're all that way to an extent.  But that's not who Nastya is at all... that was the message this book sends... what you see is not always what you get because Nastya isn't crazy... dramatic yes, but she had good reason to be that way.  It's scary and quite sad what PTSD will do to a person, especially to a bright beautiful young girl who has been through the tragedy Nastya experienced.  I would have given anything to see her not have so much self doubt and full of such fear... but I got it, I got it to a point where I didn't see her as quite so dramatic, and her past?  Yeah, well that made me cry some serious tears.

Then there is Josh... the extremely mature, yet tortured boy who grabs your heart and holds tight because you just want to fix everything for him just to see his smile.  He's been through so much in his young life and doesn't necessarily want Nastya to come around but he also doesn't mind it... actually he realizes how much he enjoys her presence when she doesn't show up for a few days.  Josh needs Nastya just as much as she needs him.  They are beautiful together, both damaged in different ways, both afraid to fully trust, and both emotionally traumatized.  But together they can do, see, and feel just about anything... even if neither of them planned to fall in love...
"I love you, Sunshine,"  I tell her, before I lose my nerve.  "And I don't give a shit whether you want me to or not."
Amazing story... I didn't love it but I also couldn't put it down.  It's one of those stories that I know when I reread it, I will get something entirely different out of it.  Although it's young adult it lacks the typical teenage angst that most young adult novels have these days... the problems, the emotions, and the situations are all realistic and have forced these strange yet lovable characters to mature beyond their age.

Great Job Katya!

Disastrous Review and Giveaway

Disastrous (Disastrous Series)by E.L. Montes

Book description...
After struggling with the loss of yet another person so dear to her heart, Mia Sullivan, transforms her frustration and loneliness, into focusing on her future career. As the top of her class at Harvard Law, she’s nervous and excited, when given the opportunity of a summer extern position at one of the top firms in Boston. Her new boss is young, extraordinarily handsome, and the successful, Marcus DeLuca. Slowly she begins to fall for him, but as she caves in to his charms, she begins to discover he is keeping something from her.
Marcus DeLuca is living two lives: one that involves his successful career and the other that could potentially ruin his entire reputation. Every day is a stressful and hectic environment with his busy schedule. His secret could jeopardize not only his life but everyone he loves. That’s why he has no extra room for a serious, romantic relationship, but after meeting Mia he cannot resist her. She is innocent, humble, and pure, the total opposite of him. She distracts him from all of his deep, dark secrets. He knows once Mia finds out the things he has done and who he truly is, she will never want to look at him again. Deep down he knows he must stay away but he can’t.
Mia and Marcus are heading down a path of love, lies, heart break and betrayal. Can their love conquer all or will it end?

Marcus, Marcus, Marcus... oh how I love you and even begged E.L. to let me "borrow" you... she told me yes at first and then she took it back and said I could have Jeremy... for a night.  LOL... E.L... you seriously crack me up girl and I can not thank you enough for not only making me laugh so much, but for allowing me to share your amazing story with you!  I am so proud of you and definitely can not wait for you to send Jeremy and his blond curls to me... even if it is just for a night!

So here's the deal... Mia.. who I absolutely loved because she was absolutely not afraid to be exactly who she is... gets accepted as an intern for one of the most prestigious law firms in Boston.  She's ready to prove herself because it's her dream to be a respected lawyer, she's especially eager to prove herself since she is one of the youngest to be accepted.  So when she comes face to face with her new boss and owner of the law firm... she's speechless, she's intrigued, and she knows she's in trouble.

My dear sweet bad boy Marcus... he was so serious all the time... I found myself thinking that should I ever met Marcus DeLuca it would be my goal to see how many times I could make him laugh... Okay!  Seriously, Don't judge me!  I know he's a fictional character but just go with it!   I completely get why he was so serious, it's not like he was living the easiest life... emotionally... but for whatever reason I just wanted to make him laugh, bring some joy into his life... But he did find that joy.. in Mia

I couldn't have pictured a better couple.  Yes they fought, they had their secrets, and they hurt each other.. but they had this bond and that was before either had even realized who the other was.  It was fascinating to watch how heated their fights would get only to turn into some scorching lovin' afterwards.  They're so passionate about each other that I couldn't help but feel the chemistry... I honestly couldn't help but picture the happily ever after they deserve... because these two definitely deserve a beautiful happily ever after!

E.L. has written an addictive novel that shows off her creativity and wonderful talent!  I look forward to seeing what will happen next with Marcus and Mia...and I'm telling you now E.L.... Jeremy needs a woman in the second book, yeah, yeah I know but I think her name should be Lori... she should be short, with long brown hair, dimples, and... you know what?  Just go look at my picture!  I'm kidding, well kind of ;-)

Make sure you enter to win some amazing prizes!!!  E.L. Montes is giving away 2 autographed copies  PLUS 2 ebook copies of Disastrous!

Breaking Point (I-Team #5) Review

Breaking Point by Pamela Clare

Book description...
While investigating border violence in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, Denver journalist Natalie Benoit is caught in a bloody ambush and taken captive. Alone in the hands of ruthless killers, she will need every ounce of courage she possesses to survive.
Betrayed by another operative, Deputy U.S. Marshal Zach McBride has endured a week of torture and interrogation at the hands of a bloodthirsty Mexican drug cartel. Ready to give his life if he must, he remains unbroken - until he hears the cries of an American woman.
Although Natalie is only a voice in the darkness of their shared prison, her plight brings renewed strength to Zach's battered body. With her help, he overpowers their captors, and they flee through the desert toward the border, the attraction between them flaring hotter than the Sonoran sun.
But past loss and tragedy leave both of them reluctant to follow their hearts, even when the passion between them reaches its breaking point. Faced with feelings neither expected, they fight to stay ahead of the danger that hunts them as forces more powerful than they can imagine conspire to destroy them both…

Honestly?  I'm sitting here trying to figure out exactly where I want to start with this review... because in all reality I loved this book so much that I could turn around and read it all over again and probably love it even more.  THIS book... Breaking Point... is my ideal Military Romantic Suspense novel and without a doubt is one of the best I've read in a very long time, if not my favorite I've ever read... and I've read A LOT of them!

These characters have strength, determination, passion, and most of all... a growing love for each other that is so beautiful I would have loved to get lost in them even more.

As a reporter, Natalie seriously cracked me up with all her questions and her extreme curiosity... the woman most definitely found herself with the perfect career!  Normally, I'm a little turned off by that type of intense curiosity because there doesn't seem to be a line by the questions that are asked, but in Natalie's case, I admired the fact that she had no shame.  Maybe it's because she was so sweet, maybe it's because she was in the middle of having to fight for survival, or maybe it's just because there was something about her that I instantly connected with.  I adored her, I found myself constantly cheering her on, and most of all she didn't annoy me.... well maybe she did a few times just a little but no one can be that perfect ;-).  Then there was the voice that gave her strength to survive, the voice who helped keep her calm, who helped her continue to fight and go on when she was ready to give up... The voice who turned out to be an extremely amazing former Navy SEAL/current US Marshall... Zack.

Zack... so much I can say about it but so much I want to keep to myself.  He's one of those characters that you want to gush over, you want to claim him as your current book boyfriend, you continue to think about him even days after you've finished the book...  Zack pulled at my heart in so many ways, he was hot and obviously that is something all heroes are but yet he was more.  He was emotionally wounded to the point where it seriously broke my heart... I wanted to hug him and tell him that everything would be okay, that everything would work out, and to just follow his heart because he deserves the happiness that he can see right in front of his face.

Like I said before, I more than enjoyed this book, I was already recommending this book to a few friends before I had even gotten 50% into it... seriously... it's that good!  If you are a fan of Military Romance, I seriously can not recommend this book enough and I have to give credit and big thanks to my girl Nikki for recommending Pamela Clare to me!

There is one quote that I am desperate to share... this quote gave me goosebumps, because as y'all know my 21 year old nephew is in the U.S Army and I am so very proud of him and the choices he made to get there!  But this quote is just so powerful:
"I am an American, fighting in the forces that guard my country and our way of life.  I am prepared to give my life in their defense."
After reading that I had tears in my eyes thinking how thankful I am each and everyday to the men and women who serve and have served their country to keep us all safe and fight for our freedom!  This review is dedicated to those men and women for their bravery, their strength, their sacrifices, and most of all their determination!

Reflected In You (Crossfire #2) Review

Reflected in You: A Crossfire Novel by Sylvia Day

Book description...
Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine.
My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful... except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession...

Gideon... my edgy bad boy... what have you done to me?  Seriously... like Eva I have become so addicted to this man that I actually lectured myself.  One minute he had me sighing at his sweet words and the next he had me so angry I wanted Eva to find herself a better man... I'm not normally like that but that is how engrossed in Eva's life I have become.  In all seriousness... I still think Gideon has some explaining to do.  Yes, I do get why he did what he did, but there are things that happened that I feel he should explain.

I seriously have a girl crush on Eva... her strength and determination amazes me, especially after all she's been through.  Her past is revealed in Bared to You... it's heartbreaking and yet she is this amazing woman who shines.... yes, she has issues, yes, she struggles with emotional attachments, and her biggest problem is her struggle with trust... after what she went through, it really is to be expected.  But I also got some pretty amazing unexpected surprises...especially when it came to Eva in this book.... she's grown even more, she's matured, she's fighting for what she wants instead of running!  She takes a chance and puts some faith and trust in Gideon.

As usual, Sylvia has written a book that I could not put down.  She's got me anxious for more, I'm desperate to find out what will happen next for Gideon and Eva... will they be put through anymore?  Can these two even handle anymore?  Their relationship is still so fragile yet their love for one another is so strong, so powerful that it's heartbreaking to watch them at times because you can see both of them struggle to be together, to unconditionally love one another, to trust!

Here is to hoping that any and all questions will be answered in Entwined with You which sadly is now scheduled to release May 6, 2013 instead of December of this year.  But I know in my heart the wait will be worth it... Gideon and Eva are worth it because if anyone deserves an amazing and beautiful happily ever after... it's definitely these two!

Happy Reading!

Saving Grace (Mad World #2) Review

Saving Grace (Mad World) by Christine Zolendz

Book description...
After spending over 2,000 years being a lost soul looking for the angel I was forbidden to fall in love with, I finally found him. Lucky for me he has taken up residence inside the hot body of NYC’s local bad boy, tattooed rock star, Shane Maxton. Turns out, not only is he absolutely perfect, so is the whole Grace Taylor life that I’m stuck in. The only problem is Gabriel. An archangel who wants me all to himself so he kind of kidnaps me. Now I have to find my way back and hope everything works out…

First of all I have to give Christine Zolendz a big huge thanks and send some hugs her way because she totally surprised me by sending me a copy of Saving Grace... and then I was blindsided again when I saw that she had mentioned me in the acknowledgements.  Thank you Christine, you're so sweet and I am still speechless over your kind words!

I have to say that I was extremely happy with this book... well okay maybe not at first and before you take that the wrong way let me tell you why... I honestly thought that based on the ending of Fall From Grace that Shane and Grace would have their stuff together and would be this adorable happy couple... but they weren't.  Actually they didn't seem to get along all that well and it wasn't for Grace's lack of trying.  This is the third book I have read in the past few weeks where even though the hero should have had me mad beyond belief, I was still pulling for him because the author did such an amazing job at painting these realistic pictures that pulled at my heart.

Shane and Grace have been through so much and we learn at the end of Fall from Grace that they've been through more for each other than we may have originally thought.... perfect set up for an amazing reunion?  You'd think so... but Christine took it another way.  Shane and Grace both had to see each other and themselves in certain situations before they realized they no matter how hard they tried to stay away from each other... they were ultimately destined to be together!  And when they finally come together for real?  Talk about fire works!!!!  The chemistry between these two is as thick as ever...

These two broken souls will pull at your heart and have you rooting for them to finally have the long awaited talk and get everything situated so they can finally be together... instead of the back and forth and then the what exactly are they phases.  All I can say is Saving Grace definitely has me wanting inside Shane's head even more... I know you're a busy woman Christine but you've made me more anxious!  Any idea of when Shane's POV may come out???

There are so many things worth mentioning in this book but there is one thing that caught my attention to the point that I told my husband about it and then said "We are so playing that game at the next family function."  You'll understand when you get there but if you happen to be related to me and at the next family function where I decide it's time to play this amazing game... It's called "Oh Dear" and with a family like mine... it should be quite fun!!

Happy Reading!

Protecting Truth (The Seraphina Parrish Trilogy #2) Review

Protecting Truth (The Seraphina Parrish Trilogy) by Michelle Warren

Book description...
Seraphina’s keeping a secret from her Wandering team: she’s perfecting her fighting skills. But telling Sam and Bishop the truth would only alert them to her plan: to go back in time, save her mom, and finish what she started. With the help of Turner, Bishop’s handsome twin, she progresses toward her goal but plummets deeper into dangerous territory where the lines of friendship and romance are blurred. One passionate kiss changes everything, leading Sera to unravel a shocking web of family secrets, heartbreaking ulterior motives, and sinister agendas. Love and lies collide in a haunting climax, where the truest souls may not survive.

First of all big thanks to the amazing Michelle Warren for sending me an ARC of Protecting Truth.  As I've said before, her writing style is flawless and she has this amazing ability to paint a picture so vivid I feel as if I'm actually in the book.  Plus, her characters rock!

Sera who I absolutely loved in Wander Dust, has without a doubt captured my heart again.  Only this time for different reasons.  She's definitely got her reasons for doing things the way she does them and quite frankly she wouldn't have learned half of what she did had she not.  She's grown so much since Wander Dust... BUT...she is still stubborn enough not to ask for the help she desperately needs... with the exception of Turner.

She doesn't mind asking Turner for his help when it comes to learning how to fight... but then again, I wouldn't mind asking Turner for help either.  Especially considering at one point I couldn't decide between sweet, adorable Bishop and his hot, bad boy twin brother Turner.   But things are not always as they seem and I have to admit I felt for Sera when it came to her feelings for both boys.  There was a connection... a connection that was hard for her to fight... and when she learns why there was a connection she's crushed.

Protecting Truth is a wonderful addition to The Seraphina Parrish Trilogy and I absolutely can not wait to see what Michelle has in store next for the beautiful and passionate Sera.  I hope all my questions get answered and I hope that Sera gets the happy ending she's been searching for!

Happy Reading!
