Archer (Hard Body #1) Review

Archer by Debra Kayn

She's on the run . . .

Jane Beaumont currently has in her possession: a cat, a hundred grand in cash, and a pistol. She's on her way home to Bay City, Oregon-and away from the nightmare of her violent ex-boyfriend. She'll lay low at Beaumont Body Shop, a car detailer that runs a private investigation agency in the back. The only wrench in her plan is Kage Archer: sexy, strong, and intent on protecting Jane at all costs. She's wanted Kage forever, but putting him in harm's way is not a risk she's willing to take.

He's not going anywhere

Kage is no stranger to the dark side of life, but he's always walked on the right side of the law. Yet when Jane expressed her interest in him years ago, he pushed her away for her own good. Now, after learning of all she's endured, Kage can't leave her side-or hide his need for her. When a frightening situation turns dire, can Kage convince Jane that the safest place to be is in his arms?

There is absolutely nothing that does it for me more than a hero who knows exactly what he wants and will do whatever it takes to make sure he gets it!  THAT is what this book is really about... it's about proving yourself to... yourself that you're worth enough for a person you've fallen in love with.

I know I say this with just about every book.... but... Jane wasn't my most favorite heroine... but (yes another one) I actually did like her.  She was finally standing up and doing what was right for herself and I admired her for that because unless you've been in the shoes Jane was in... you have no idea how you'd react let alone when the right time to react would be!

Kage is something else entirely!  He's alpha to a fault but he has this sweet side he obviously doesn't let many people see.  He knows exactly what he sees in Jane and he is determined to make sure his past is as far as it can be from touching her.  Only we don't always get what we plan for and sometimes unexpected things make us make rash decisions.

I loved these two... granted there really wasn't anything that set Archer aside from other books... I still loved it.  It's definitely a great beach read, or in my case a great "Kids are gone and hubby is sleeping all day so the house is quiet and I'm going to enjoy it" read ;)

How to Love Blog Tour & Giveaway

How-To-Love

How to Love (San Amaro Singles) by Kelly Jamieson

Relationship, no…but threesome, hell yes!

Ever since Jules’s new neighbor moved in, she’s been undressing him in her mind. Mike is the fresh inspiration she needs to make her erotic photography studio a success, if she can convince him and his equally buff roommate, Carlos, to strip for her lens. And maybe indulge in a little off-camera fun as well.

But Jules isn’t too worried. She doesn’t do relationships, but she loves men and sex—and in her experience, most men are okay with that.

Judging from the raw emotions leaping from the images in Jules’s gallery, Mike senses there’s a lot going on beneath her flirtatious, slightly cynical exterior. He and Carlos are happy in their committed relationship, but they’ve always felt there’s a piece missing. They want a woman. Jules could be that woman.

A threesome with two committed men? Sounds like an emotionally risk-free dream come true for Jules. But when they make it clear they want more, her deepest fears push to the surface, straining bonds forged in incredible heat to the breaking point…

Warning: The book features two hot men brave enough to climb cliffs, strip naked for erotic photographs, have sex in a portrait studio and on a cliff, and who have the courage to teach a commitment-phobic woman how to love

Kelly Jamieson is a best-selling author of over twenty-five romance novels and novellas. Her writing has been described as “emotionally complex”, “sweet and satisfying” and “blisteringly sexy”.

Kelly is giving away a tour grand prize of a $50 Amazon/B&N/Kobo gift card (winner's choice) to one winner from all the different tour stops. Winner will be selected by Rafflecopter.

I have to warn you that the following excerpt is explicit... however I HAD to post it because there is this funny little part in there and quite frankly anyone who can make something that hot, funny too... is freaking awesome!  I can't wait to read this book!

Explicit Excerpt
“Okay, Jules?” Mike moved up behind her and his body heat radiated through her T-shirt. He set his hands on her waist and rubbed his face on her hair. She nodded.
Carlos stepped in front of her, now wearing only a snug pair of black boxer briefs, and started to unbutton her jeans. Mike slid her T-shirt up over her ribcage, nudging her arms, and she raised them so he could lift the T-shirt over her head. A delicious warmth filled her, her limbs going heavy, her eyes falling closed as their hands brushed over her body, removing her clothes. Mike’s chest pressed up against her back, hot and hard, his hands sliding around over her stomach, holding her, so carefully.
Carlos helped her step out of her jeans, then stood before her. He lifted her chin with one hand and kissed her mouth, and she sank into the dream, into sensation, heat and touch, whispered sighs and soft breaths, the taste of Carlos on her tongue, her lips. His lips were fuller than Mike’s, his kisses different but both so sexy.
Mike’s hand slid lower down her belly, resting just above her panties, right where she ached deep inside, his mouth finding the side of her neck and laying hot, open-mouthed kisses there.
“Too much,” she moaned, almost overwhelmed by their two big bodies, all heat and muscle, their hands, their mouths.
“Oh baby,” whispered Carlos. “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”
“I think that’s a song.”
He smiled. “It is. A great song.”
Mike snorted behind her. “Bachman Turner Overdrive? Seriously? That is not a seductive bedroom song.”
“Sure it is. I’d sing it for you, but…”
“Christ, no.”
Jules let her head fall back on Mike’s shoulder, amusement filtering through her once again.
“I’m a good singer,” Carlos continued, bending to kiss her throat, then drag his tongue down her chest.
“I’m sure you are,” she murmured. Her breasts tightened and sensation cascaded over her.
“No, he isn’t.” Mike nibbled her ear lobe. “He’s a terrible singer. That never stops him, though.”
“Sssh,” Carlos said, nuzzling the inner curve of one breast, making her breath catch in her throat. “This is not the time to discuss my vocal abilities.” Her nipples tingled in anticipation of his touch, and she lifted heavy arms to slide her fingers into his short hair. “This is about Jules.”
“Oh.” That was so nice. So, so nice.
Between the two of them, every nerve ending in her body buzzed, Mike’s fingers playing with the edge of her panties, Carlos rubbing his beard against the skin between her breasts. She let her fingers slide through the roughness of Carlos’s short hair. He nibbled at the upper curves of her breasts above the edge of her bra and she arched her back in response. Mike lifted a hand to cup her chin, pulling her head back even farther so he could kiss her mouth, deeply, hungrily. She moaned.
So much sensation, everywhere, surrounding her, consuming her with almost unbearable sweetness, pressure and need building low inside her. Her knees were weakening again.
Carlos reached around behind her to unfasten her bra, releasing her swelling breasts from the cups. She dropped her arms to let it slide off, still leaning back into Mike’s embrace, her nipples tightening even more at the air brushing over them. “Oh, Jules,” Carlos whispered, cupping her breasts, rubbing his thumbs over her nipples. “You’re so beautiful.”
She couldn’t respond, blood pulsing hotly though her veins, her head spinning from it all. His gentle touches on her nipples, brushing his palms across them, had pleasure rippling through her, nipples so tight and aching she couldn’t stand it. She drifted in an erotic haze of mindless sensation. Her entire body quivered and she made a needy little sound into Mike’s mouth.

Kiss This Review

Kiss This by Hadley Quinn

22-year-old Camryn Jacobs lost the love of her life once and vows to never kiss another guy unless she's in love with him. When she meets Teague, their attraction to one another is off the charts, and for the first time in two years, she wants to disregard her rule.

But Camryn makes a bet that he can't go just one week without kissing her. She's protecting her own fragile heart, but her wit and smart mouth end up driving Teague crazy.

When Teague is equally skilled at her challenge, their friendship turns complicated. He's not at all what she assumed, and he makes her feel things she never expected to feel. But sharing her true reasons for the no-kiss bet hurts too much and she keeps him in the dark.

Teague has his own secrets to hide, starting with his last name. It's the reason he left town--to lick his wounds until he can piece his life back together. His time with Camryn proves that it might actually be possible, but with the threat of his family and his past ruining all that he's finally gained, can he really take that risk again?

Loving might be easy; learning to trust again could be too difficult to achieve...

I've had my eye on this book for a while now and unfortunately had so many other things on my plate I just wasn't able to get to it.  Then I had a day where I needed to clear my head and just wanted to read something.. so while going through my Amazon wishlist I came across this one again and immediately one-clicked it.  Let's just say that I am so glad I did because the friendship and then the love that grew between these two characters totally did it for me.

Camryn had it all and lost it once so she was hesitant to move forward when it came to any kind of romantic relationships.  She's a character I was able to admire and love.  A character I was able to relate to and a character that I would love to read more about!  She knew there was something special about Teague but she wasn't going to let that spark of attraction change her plans and her plans included a little bet that turned their relationship into a beautiful friendship that made the relationship we all know they would end up having that more special.

Teague is hard not to love.  He obviously had some issues going on and needed to escape the real world but meeting Camryn made him have to face reality a lot quicker than he had intended.  There is no doubt in my mind that he was gone for her the moment he laid eyes on her and then her little bet made her even better in his eyes.  Unfortunately he had somethings that needed to be handled, and not necessarily by him, for his relationship with Camryn to move forward.

Their story is sweet and reminds you of how amazing it is to fall in love.  It's not always easy but it's always worth it in the end!

I definitely recommend this one to all my book lovers!

Jaded (Jaded #1) Review

JADED by Tijan

Sheldon doesn't care about anyone except Corrigan and Bryce. The three of them rule their school, but it seems someone else wants in on the action or that someone else just wants Sheldon. How many bodies is enough to prove their love to her?

This book is dark and edgy with sexual situations, drinking, swearing, murder, and more messed-up parents.

There are numerous things that I love to see in my books and there are also numerous things that I despise reading in my books.... The funny thing is when I find a book that has not only a few of the things I love but a lot of the things I don't particularly care for all in the same book and I still can't put it down until I've devoured every single word... I know that I've found myself not only one heck of a fantastic book but one heck of an amazing author.

Sheldon is that girl that every girl secretly wants to be but may never admit.  She's popular and her two best friends are the hottest boys in school and have her back no matter what.  She's independent and has managed to still turn out okay (even if she kind of is a mean girl) after the way her parents have completely disregarded her.

Then  there is the relationship with Bryce and Corrigan... it's beyond tight.  They love each other and have created their own little family.  The dynamic was pretty special and I loved that Sheldon had them considering everything else she had to go through.

I've read quite a few of Tijan's books here lately and let me tell you this author knows how to take edgy to a whole new level.  She's able to put things that normally turn me off and make me understand them!  Angst lovers will absolutely LOVE this author!  Jaded was one of those books and as much as I would love to read the next in the series... I'll probably hold off, not because I don't think it's going to be good (because I'm sure it will be) but because I'm happy where the book ended... actually I'm extremely happy where the book ended and considering I'm a spoiler hunter (I troll Goodreads reviews looking for spoilers in books because I'm one of those people that needs instant gratification) I saw a few reviews that may or may not make me think less of some characters that I absolutely adore!  As you can tell JADED definitely has a Happily Ever After (For Now)!

Happy Reading!

Mountain Charm Blog Tour

Mountain Charm by Sydney Logan

“True love and sweet whispers, till death do us part;
Send someone to love my Appalachian heart.”

At the age of thirteen, Angelina Clark followed in the footsteps of her ancestors by casting an Appalachian love spell, which promised she would blossom into a beautiful and gifted woman who would find her true love. A young Angelina had been thrilled to participate in the sacred ritual, but through the years, her father’s untimely death and her mother’s failing health have shaken Angelina’s magical faith to its core. As her twenty-first birthday approaches, she refuses to practice her supernatural gifts and no longer believes in the love charm.
That is, until Dylan Thomas arrives on her front porch.

Dylan, a Nashville writer, travels to the mountain town of Maple Ridge to unearth the family’s supernatural secrets. While her clairvoyant mother is convinced that Dylan is her daughter’s soul mate, Angelina refuses to see the nosy reporter as anything more than a nuisance.
Despite their constant bickering, sparks fly.

Dylan admits he feels strangely drawn to Angelina and is in no hurry to leave Maple Ridge or publish his magazine article. Fearful that his emotions are being influenced by the spell, a stubborn Angelina struggles to fight her own budding attraction to the reporter.

The two inevitably grow closer just as her mother’s health begins to deteriorate, and Angelina is faced with the possibility of selling the family’s music shop to pay the mounting medical expenses. Desperate to help the woman he loves, Dylan explores his own family tree and finds support from an unlikely source. Can he finally prove his love is real—spell or no spell?

A story filled with love, friendship, family, and just a hint of Appalachian magic, Mountain Charm will leave you spellbound.

There is one thing I have learned that Sydney Logan knows how to deliver perfectly....  a sweet, captivating love story that will leave you feeling satisfied but ultimately craving more.

I LOVED Lessons Learned so when I saw that Sydney had another book coming out I was more than excited because I adore her characters and let me tell you that Angelina and Dylan are two characters that are more than easy to adore... and don't even get me started on the secondary characters ;)  The story is more than believable and it's all about these two characters who were obviously supposed to meet... spell or not.

Although I will admit Angelina got on my nerves a few times because I wanted her to just give in... BUT I did understand where she was coming from.  For a woman who had been through as much as she had at such a young age... she really was quite amazing.  Then there is Dylan... and let me just say that even though he's not a smooth taking bad boy he still managed to make his way on my book boyfriend list!

I love these stories that remind us of what it's like for the everyday average person to fall in love.  It's refreshing and to me (especially if I happen to be mad at the hubby) they remind me of how special love really is.

I'm not sure why angst is such a high seller these days... I personally have enough drama in my own life and don't really want to spend my time reading a book where I'm reading nothing but drama/angst.  I mean really?  How can anyone go through that much and still manage to find the amount of forgiveness they all seem to have?  I'm certainly not that nice and I'd like to think of myself as a pretty nice person.

Mountain Charm is definitely one I recommend checking out.  It's a light and easy read that will more than satisfy any craving for a sweet love story!

Sydney Logan is an Amazon bestselling author and holds a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Lessons Learned, she made the transition from bookworm to author. Sydney has a very unhealthy obsession with music, and her iPod is filled with everything from Johnny Cash to Eminem. She is also the author of two short stories: “Mistletoe Magic,” available exclusively on Amazon Kindle, and “Stupid Cupid,” which is featured in the Romantic Interludescompilation. When she isn't reading or writing, she enjoys playing piano and relaxing on her front porch at her home in East Tennessee with her wonderful husband and their very spoiled cat.
With the 2012 release of her first novel,
Her second novel, Mountain Charm, is slated for a summer 2013 release.

I asked Sydney what HER most memorable scene was... whether it was to write or even when she went back and did her read through... so not only did she pick her scene but y'all are getting a little excerpt as well ;)

Check it out:

Clearly she’d had a rough day. Having a flat tire in the middle of a storm would stress out anyone. Giving her a neck massage would be the gentlemanly thing to do.

Right?

“I give kickass massages,” he said as he stepped closer.  Cash jumped off the couch and trotted off toward the kitchen. Dylan took it as a sign of male solidarity. Thank God the dog liked him.

“I bet you do.” Angelina smirked, but he couldn’t help but notice the flush of her cheeks and the way it spread across her neck.

“I’m serious. Sit up.”

Dylan sat down on the couch, and she sighed before turning around. He brushed her hair aside and placed his hands on her shoulders, kneading them softly. Angelina’s groan vibrated through him, and he closed his eyes, willing his body to calm down.

“That feels so good.”

Not helping.

Dylan chuckled. “Told you so.”

“Shut up,” she mumbled.

The storm raged outside, but it was easy to ignore as his hands became acquainted with her body. His fingers drifted along her spine, slowly loosening her tired muscles.

Dylan moved closer, letting his chest brush against her back.

“Better?” His warm breath tickled her ear, and he smiled when she trembled beneath his touch.

“Yes.”

He allowed his fingers to drift along her skin. Angelina’s breath hitched when he slipped his hand beneath her sweatshirt, letting it rest briefly on the small of her back. Her skin was so soft. And this was just a tiny bit of flesh on her back.

He didn’t dare imagine the rest of her.

“Cold?” Dylan’s voice was a throaty whisper against her ear.  He let his fingers ghost up her spine once again, stalling when he reached the nape of her neck. He lingered there, loving the feel of her skin and wisps of her hair against his fingertips.

“Angelina—”

Suddenly the room was flooded with light.

Dylan blinked rapidly, as if he were coming out of a trance.

They both let out shaky breaths as Angelina jumped to her feet.  She walked toward the fireplace and extinguished the candles before turning around again.

She looked as confused as he felt.

Dylan slowly rose from the couch. She took a step closer until the two of them were merely inches apart. He lifted his hand, cupping her cheek before letting his fingers slide down to her neck. Her pulse was pounding, and he wondered if his was just as frantic.

“Storm’s gone,” Angelina whispered.

He knew it was her lame attempt to laugh off whatever had just taken place between the two of them. But Dylan knew, without a doubt, the storm was far from over.

Forgotten Sins Review

Forgotten Sins by Rebecca Zanetti

His Secrets Can Destroy Her

From the moment Josie laid eyes on sexy, mysterious Shane Dean, she was in love. Their desire ignited a passionate affair, and within weeks, Shane had slipped a ring on her finger. It seemed her every fantasy was coming true . . . until her new husband disappeared without a trace. Now, two years and one broken heart later, Josie is shocked when the hospital calls: Shane has been found . . . at a crime scene with no memory of how he got there.

Her Love Can Save Him

Shane can't remember the blue-eyed angel at his bedside-or who he even is-but he knows something isn't right. His hearing is razor sharp, his physical strength incredible, and the urge to protect Josie overwhelming. For powerful enemies are hunting him, and Josie is the key to discovering why. As Shane struggles to unravel his past, dangerous new truths come to light. Can he protect the only woman he's ever loved? And can Josie trust a man she thought she knew-one who carries such a deadly secret?

To me there is nothing better than finding a fantastic Romantic Suspense novel that pulls me in so deep that I'm literally begging for more seconds after I've read the last word.... THAT is exactly what I found with Rebecca Zanetti's Forgotten Sins.  It had was the perfect combination of everything I love in a good book... A sweet romance, extreme suspense, edge of your seat drama, and two characters you just can't help but fall in love with.

I've gone on and on about how much I love a strong heroine in past reviews and I'm afraid I have to go on and on about it again with Josie.  Not only was she a strong female, she was more.  A survivor, loyal to a fault, kind, loving, and knew how to protect herself.  There wasn't anything to dislike about her and quite frankly it's very rare for me to admit that... out loud.  A few of the things that usually bug me about heroines in other books were present in Forgotten Sins but Josie had excellent reasons on WHY she made the choices she made.... and a lot of that is because Rebecca had me so far inside Josie's head that I actually felt as if I were a part of her - Shh... don't tell my husband I actually typed that out otherwise I'll get the whole "you do realize it's a book right Lori?" speech... lol.

When it comes to finding a new book boyfriend to spend some quality time with, I'm really not all that hard to please... I guess I'm pretty easy (no pun intended).  But dear sweet heaven there was so much to fall in love with when it came to Shane.  Learning all there is to know about a man who lives a very dangerous life, while he relearned it... was exciting and pretty refreshing all at the same time.  His loyalty to his wife and his brothers was real and it made me love him that much more.  But it was his sweetness towards Josie... that he really didn't seem to want to recognize... that had me handing my heart over and adding, yet another fictional character to my very long list of book boyfriends!

It doesn't happen all that often but Rebecca Zanetti told me and entire story that I not only pictured completely, but that I felt a part of.  Her writing style and her creative way with words had my head in so deep that I felt every emotion that a reader is possibly meant to experience while reading Forgotten Sins.  It's definitely a book I recommend to my fellow Romantic Suspense book lovers... actually it's a book I definitely recommend to all my book lovers... because we all know there is nothing like falling in love with your true love all over again!

Happy Reading!
