Blog Tour: Waiting for You

Waiting for You by Shey Stahl

Bailey Gray is tired of her perfectly planned life. Everything about her life has been organized and lived out to the expectations set of her parents. She is the class valedictorian, has perfect grades, the perfect friends, a perfect boyfriend, basically perfect life...or so everyone thought. That's when she realizes the path planned isn't always the path chosen.
On graduation day she makes a decision. One that changes everything she thought she knew about her intended future.
On a whim, she runs away with the town rebel, Dylan Wade, in search of the unknown.
Dylan Wade isn't looking to run away from anything.
He knows what he wants as he's been waiting on it for years.
On a journey to find the unknown, they discover a friendship they once knew along the open highway and have not a care in the world. Between the yellow and white lines of the heated summer asphalt, a spark draws them together as Dylan's past and Bailey future try to ripe them apart.
Could it be that Dylan and his GTO are exactly what her perfectly planned life needs?

I was excited for this book.... I was also nervous for this book because sometimes when an Author puts out this amazing series that you can't seem to get enough of they don't always hit the nail on the head with the next book... Well, I'll be the first to say that Shey did one hell of an amazing job with her Racing on the Edge Series and now Waiting for You!  she has more than proved she is a versatile writer who will continue to give us these books we can't get enough of!

Everything about this book flowed perfectly for me.  The characters were well build and extremely lovable (sigh... Dylan).  I enjoyed this book from start to finish and quite frankly I'm looking forward to reading it again and I'm more than looking forward to reading more of Shey's work!

So normally I give y'all this detailed description of my thoughts throughout the book but I'm not going to with this one... I AM recommending that you read it and that you figure out all the twists and turns on your own fully knowing that I adore these characters!  So go get Waiting for You if you haven't yet and if you have... send me a message and tell me what you thought about it!

I reached for my wallet inside my bag to see how much cash I had, knowing damn well my credit cards wouldn’t work now. I counted to myself as Dylan carefully watched what I was doing.
“I have just over nine hundred dollars. How far do you think we can get with that?”
He laughed and shook his head. “You’re not funding this adventure, I am.” Although laughing, his tone was set.
“I refuse to let you pay for this entire trip.”
His eyebrows flickered up and I could tell then he was deciding whether to be dirty or not. Not wins out. “There are always those sexual favors, so…”
I punched his shoulder for his lewd suggestions and handed him the money. “I insist on paying for my half of the trip.”
Pushing the money back at me, he shook his head. “I have more than enough money. When I turned eighteen my trust fund kicked in.”
“I’m not taking your trust fund money. That’s yours for college or whatever.”
It wasn’t a secret around town that Dylan and his brother had a hefty trust fund from when his mother died. Yet I refused to let him use that money on this adventure.
“I’m not going to college.” He smirked as if the possibility of him going to college was ridiculous. “Looks like we’re back to those sexual favors.” he suggested and leaned back on the bed and placed his hands behind his head. To make his point more clear, he winked and gestured south lifting his hips slightly.
What a pervert.

It was then that I was no more concerned about being murdered. Deep down he was too goofy to commit a crime as grave as a murder. At least that’s what I was telling myself.
Lying beside him, he looked at me and I confessed about my temper tantrum outside. “We have to use your phone from now on.”
“Where’s yours?”
“Under an Escalade outside,”
“Nice.” He propped himself up on his elbows. His feet dangled off the edge of the bed. “Are you hungry?”
“Actually yes, I’m starving.”
Removing himself from the bed, he pulled on a clean t-shirt from his bag on the floor and then put his flannel back on over the top of it. I noticed all his shirts were neatly settled in his bag where my bag looked as if hurricane Katrina had packed it.
“Get up. I’m taking you to dinner.” He told me walking around the bed and standing near the door. “I suggest you change out of that ridiculous gown though. I’m not going to dinner with the valedictorian.”
“I thought I looked hot in it.” I suggested twirling around trying to remember my ballet moves from when I was younger.
Nice flirting.
Dylan didn’t say anything for a moment so I looked back at him wondering if he even noticed my moves and he smirked keeping his eyes low.
“I agree,” he mumbled softly and turned to the door.
I didn’t wait for him to leave the room before I stripped my gown off. Usually I wouldn’t have done something that bold but I did it to tease him for the sexual favors comments. I stripped down to my bra and underwear. When I snuck a glance in his direction, I noticed he was still standing by the door putting his shoes on.
Clearly, he hadn’t noticed yet so I stalled for a second pretending to rummage through my hurricane mess and then pulled some jean shorts and a t-shirt out of my bag. When I turned around before I put my shirt on, I noticed he was now looking at me but said nothing.
I chuckled walking over to him. “What? You can make suggestions that I perform sexual favors on you but I can’t get undressed in front of you?” I asked, winking at him.
“No, by all means undress,” he said offering his own wink. “It’ll just make those sexual favors easier.”

Black Flag (Racing on the Edge #2) Review

Black Flag by Shey Stahl

Book description...
When the taste you thought you never needed becomes a thirst you cannot quench, then what? Jameson Riley, a NASCAR rookie driver, and Sway Reins, his pregnant girlfriend, are put to the test. They have love; they have lust, and a bond that proves to be vital. But do they have what it takes to make it through his lifestyle. When tested, it’s either fight, or give in. Two things Jameson has a hard time drawing a line between. Desperate for the series title in his rookie season, Jameson becomes engrossed in the battle between himself and rival driver Darrin Torres. After a horrific crash in Pocono, Darrin attempts to even the score when his warnings do nothing to deter Jameson and his diligent focus on his dream and his family. Between the blurred lines of love and racing, and the weight of the world on his shoulders, can this racing prodigy achieve what he was born to do?

When I finished the first book in the Racing on the Edge Series Happy Hour I knew it wouldn't be long before I was craving more of Jameson and Sway's life... funny thing is, I think I actually lasted about 2 weeks before caving and downloading Black Flag.  It wasn't only Jameson and Sway I wanted... I wanted everything this series has to offer... The love, the family, the friends, the humor, the suspense, all of it... And I got it all, plus more!

Jameson and Sway have got this sweet and passionate love for each other that sung to my heart.  It was clear they were meant to be together and would do just about anything for each other but unfortunately there were also those that would do anything to take that away from them.

Enter the suspense -

Happy Hour ended with Jameson's horrific crash and Black Flag begins with him in the hospital... it wasn't a pretty sight but it definitely showed how solid the relationship between Jameson and Sway really is.  He already knew that Sway was his and he would do anything for her but he finds out some special news that makes him realize he needs to fight that much harder to recover and get back on the track as soon as he can!

What these two go through seriously broke my heart.. but seeing how they handled themselves and everything that happened in the aftermath made me love them that much more.

Then comes their love for one another... it's become very rare that you find a heroine who is actually secure in her relationship and love with the hero.  So when Sway shows no signs of jealousy with all the pit lizards, garage groupies, flirty reporters, and even strippers I can't help but admire her... I'm not a jealous person so I was able to connect with Sway on that "confident in her man" level.  It was refreshing because it's not something you see very often!

I'm definitely looking forward to more of this series... I'm already struggling with wanting to dive right into the next book and find out what happens next for Jameson and Sway!

Happy Hour (Racing on the Edge #1) Review

Happy Hour (Racing on the Edge) by Shey Stahl

Book description...
Between revving engines, smoking tires, and high speeds, two friends form a vital bond in the shadows of the blaring spotlight. Sway Reins, a track owner’s only daughter, and Jameson Riley, a gritty NASCAR rookie driver, have been best friends since they were kids. Over the years, Sway becomes his safety shield during his rapid rise to the elite levels of auto racing. A night of celebrating a victory leaves Sway believing that she can convince Jameson to fall in love with her. She becomes determined to be more than just a pit lizard trolling the pits. Little does she know that this steadfast racer has his own idea of revelry. Soon their compression ratios are timed exactly right and all the reciprocating motions have led them to happy hour. As their passion revs, the inner workings of an internal combustion engine have never been so erotic. Just a taste turns into a thirst neither of them saw coming. Can she convince this rookie he can have love and his dream?

So... have you ever found yourself reading a scene in a book thinking... Oh no, these characters are exactly like some people *cough cough* I know?  I swear there were scenes in this book that had my mind traveling back in time and mentally reliving some of the crazy stuff that my friends and I have done.  I was cracking up while reading them and then cracking up even more thinking about how similar some things were... And since I'm at this point in my life where I feel like I should try to be an adult and not be so forthcoming about my past, I will not tell you which scenes were so similar unless you ask.  But I will say this... Sway my little darling... Tequila is NOT a friend, it's actually an enemy and I certainly hope you learned your lesson after that night... I'd hate to see Tequila have to give you a few lessons, cause sister believe me when I say they only seem to get worse!

I absolutely adored Sway!  She reminded me of my younger self in certain ways...She knows what she wants but it still trying to figure out how exactly she wants to "get it" and her favorite thing in the world is to be having fun with those she loves.  Her love for her friends and family, her magnetic personality and drive to just want to have fun, and her extremely sarcastic wit... made me love her and see what a good woman she already was... especially for only being 22.  She does anything for those she loved and most especially she'd do anything to get the one man she loved to see her as more than just a friend.

Jameson... I seriously struggled with the fact that he was only 22... he is very mature and has a lot resting on his shoulders and I mean a lot!  He is one of those guys that people see one thing when in reality he is so much more.  He's not just some pretty face who makes bad decisions.... granted he doesn't always make the best decisions but he's still young and in order to learn from his mistakes he has to make them... he actually has a wonderful business savvy and is already extremely successful because he puts his whole self into doing what he loves.  If only he could figure out how to do what he loves and be with who he loves at the same time.  There is no doubt in my mind that he can because it was pretty clear from the beginning that once Jameson put his mind to something, nothing would stop him.

Their story is cute, sweet, funny, heartbreaking, and beautiful all at the same time.  I found myself getting frustrated with my kindle for not turning the pages quick enough.  Shey Stahl has created on heck of an addictive story and even though I wasn't a huge fan of the all the car and racing references it really was a perfect fit.  I'm most definitely looking forward to the next book in the Racing on the Edge Series Black Flag!   Check it out... if you're into a heroine that fights for what she wants while having fun, a sexy hero that knows his way around an engine, and a book full of secondary characters that more than keep you entertained... then you will love Happy Hour!
