Confessions of an Alli Cat by Courtney Cole
Allison “Alli” Lancaster has it all—a fabulous job, a beautiful 15
year-old daughter, a hilarious BFF and a gorgeous house with a pool and
Jacuzzi in an exclusive Las Vegas neighborhood. What she doesn’t have
is a husband, because she kicked her lousy, cheating ex to the curb nine
months ago. Since then, Alli has paid her dues with seemingly endless
self-improvement and seemingly endless mourning. Now she’s ready to
move on and try new things.
Alli’s idea of “trying new things”
is nothing like that devil-of-a-best-friend of hers. Somehow, Sara, the
devil of a best friend, talks Alli into trying out a sex toy, sleeping
with a younger man and letting a stranger in a lab jacket put hot wax on
a place that should never, ever, ever see wax. And that’s only the
Alli never saw her life going quite like this. She
also never thought she’d meet someone else who had the very real
potential to change her life forever.
But she did.
the new guy. He’s gorgeous, refined and mature. He’s also marriage
material. But that poses a problem for Alli, who renounced the
institution of marriage when she renounced her ex. What’s a girl to do?
say that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But what the heck
happens when you can’t leave Vegas? Well, you spin the wheel, of
course. You play the game and let the chips fall where they may.
Alli just hopes she can find them all.
Only read this book if you want to laugh and are not offended at adult
themes and language. This is not a Young Adult book!
I haven't exactly been in a book funk lately because I've been reading a lot of amazing books the past few weeks... it's like they keep jumping out at me and say "read me, read me" and then my poor little head goes into overdrive, obviously over thinking all the amazing books that have been released recently, and I begin to wonder if this means a bad reading funk is in my future... Scary! Very Scary! But here's the thing... with books like Confessions of an Alli Cat, I know that even if I get into a funk, I can turn to this hilarious, sexy, and touching book to get myself back on the right reading path... Don't judge me, that sentence sounded so much better in my head! LOL.
Alli... the little hussy... is so my kind of girl! She pretty much lets everything roll off her back and just kind of goes with the flow. I'm fairly laid back myself but I can guarantee that if I were in some of the same situations poor Alli found herself in, I'd probably burst into tears from embarrassment. But she didn't and let me tell you the woman found herself in some crazy situations.
There was this one scene... I'm sitting here laughing just thinking about it... anyway, she's getting ready to try something out or she's thinking of trying this thing out and the stuff she's thinking was so funny that it made me think of someone and I ended up having to send her a text and told her she had to read this book. Honestly, it's kind of sick that I would even think of someone during this scene but I couldn't help it because of a specific reason, which I will not share since I know it would embarrass her to no end and she'd probably end up putting a hit out on me. Hell, she may still put a hit out on me, so if you don't hear from me for a few days... send a search party!
This book is really more of Alli's story more than it is a "romance novel" but there is romance... there's this sweet happily ever after, a gigolo, a best friend I seriously fell in love with, and some quotes that were quite epic! There is no doubt I will be following along with The Cougar Chronicles as well as turning back to Confessions of an Alli Cat for a nice easy read that is certain to give me a good laugh!
