You may not know this but today is Lori’s Book Blog’s
1st Birthday!
Well… not entirely… but today marks 1 year since I
went live.
Because my blog has more of a special meaning to
me, I want to do something special for you… because you’ve all supported me one
way or another and I’m more than grateful!
But first, I’m going to tell you WHY this blog
means so much to me and then WHY that means that y’all mean even more to me
than you may realize….
When I was in second grade (around 8 years old) I
was diagnosed with a learning disability… you’ll never guess what it was… it
was in reading comprehension. Here’s
what I did – I would get anxious over the words I was reading and by the time I
completed a page of reading I forgot how it started. So I had to take meticulous notes in order to
complete book reports, study for tests, ect… but when I was in high school I
had this teacher who was something special.
She helped me teach my mind how to overcome the problem… so with
practice I was able to read anything and not have to take notes or worry about
forgetting something. It was like I
rebooted my brain and how it absorbs the information that I read.
So…. As I got older and I read more and more, I
realized that what I was able to do for myself is actually something quite
special and because some special friends of mine were always asking me for book
recommendations I decided to go ahead and start myself a blog. It wasn’t about gaining a following or any
kind of attention… for me it was my own special way of telling those that
either made fun of me because of my problem or those that used it against me…
to shove it!
This is where y’all come in… because my blog still
is not about gaining a following or seeking attention and you all still come
back day after day to see what I have to say I can’t help but appreciate you
that much more! You’re love and support
mean more than you will ever know!
I have met some amazing people, made some wonderful
friends, worked with some rock star authors, worked with some beautiful
bloggers & reviewers, and have had an awesome time doing it all!
So here is what I want to do… not only because it’s
Lori’s Book Blog’s birthday but also because y’all are so special to me… I’m
going to give some stuff away. I’ve got
some signed paperbacks, a gift card or maybe even 2, and some ebooks I want to
share. So make sure you enter the
rafflecopter below. I’d say grab a piece
of cake on your way out but… I kinda ate it all ;)
I adore y’all!!!
Happy Reading and Good Luck!!!!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so proud of you for sticking with reading throughout your school years (and beyond) and for working so hard to overcome your difficulties. That really is a special teacher you had in high school, to take the time to work with you on it and help you get past it. Good for you, for telling those negative influences to "shove it" through your blog! :D
