The Mighty Storm Review

The Mighty Storm by Samantha Towle

Book description...
It's been twelve years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best-friend and boy she once loved.
Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both fourteen.
Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there’s a complication to their instant feelings for one another – Will, Tru’s boyfriend of two years.
Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can't refuse - travelling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake.
Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the worlds most notorious womanizer?

So first of all I would like to give big thanks to the amazing and beautiful Samantha Towle for sending me an ARC of The Mighty Storm!!!  I'd been watching out for teasers on Facebook and thinking if Jake is anything like Nathan from Samantha's Alexander Jones Series then I was going to be in big trouble!!  Then I found out that Jake is in a band... a very successful band.  Well.. needless to say I've become a bit of a sucker for rock stars who just happen to be bad boys with some shady pasts... and, Jake, he has a bit of a shady past!

Here's the deal.... Tru and Jake grew up next door to each other and were best friends... like super close to the point that you know they would end up together and in love, best friends.  Well that is until Jake and his family move to New York and all communication stops.  So it's more than obvious that Tru is hurt by how everything went down between her and Jake... and quite frankly she harbors a bit of a grudge because of it... but that hasn't been a problem... at least until now.   I really liked Tru, she was a patient woman who had a quick wit with a lovable and compassionate personality.  She is exactly what I love to see in a heroine... Now, that doesn't mean that I didn't agree with all of her choices and didn't get mad at her.  But at the same time I understood why she made the choices she made, why she felt she needed to think about a situation the way she did, and also why she felt the urge to handle the situation with as much care as possible.

Then there is Jake.... sigh... Jake is... well, Jake!  He's gorgeous and comes with the whole bad boy persona that seems to attract women in flocks... and he likes his variety.  You can almost feel the air of sexual expertise about him and the man is a genius with innuendos!  He's not only sexy as sin but he's extremely smart with a business savvy most men struggle to achieve.  But there is something more to Jake that makes me feel something special for him... a special kind of feeling that makes me feel protective of him in a way that I want to fix all his problems.  Here's the thing though, Jake's problems are the kind of problems that only he can fix and he's only going to fix them when he's ready to face the reality.

The relationship between Tru and Jake is mesmerizing.  They have this amazing chemistry that can't be denied... They respond well to each other and you can feel how close they once were.  You can see how much Jake has missed Tru and how desperately he wants her to be a part of his life again.   Then there is Tru's inner struggle with her feelings towards Jake.  She has this amazing boyfriend who she loves but there always has been and always will be a place in her heart for Jake.  But will just a place in her heart be enough for the feelings she has for Jake?

I want to give big props... actually HUGE props to Samantha!  She flourished with this book but there was one point in particular where she nailed it... I mean N.A.I.L.E.D. nailed it!  You're probably wondering what in the world I'm talking about here and I honestly would give anything to share it with you but it's pretty big and I can't give that kind of a spoiler away.... but I will say that you will understand what I mean when you get there.  It's very rare that an author will take the kind of chance that Sam took here... the majority of books I have read have sugar coated these types of situations rather than made it as real as possible.. which is something that has always annoyed me.  After reading how real Sam made it... it confirmed that not only these characters and this book are more special to me, but the author herself has earned my utmost respect.

Make sure you read The Mighty Storm by Samantha Towle.  It's an awesome book with the perfect amount of drama, angst, and a sweet love, that will pull you in on an emotional level!  If you're anything like me and have a soft spot for vulnerable rock stars then Jake will definitely steal your heart!

OH!  I can't forget to mention this... I want to Emoticon Tom all over... just sayin'!

Happy Reading!
