Blog Tour: Unbeautifully Loved (Breathe Again #1) Review & Giveaway

In three words I can sum up everything I learned about life. Regardless of the shit going on in your life, this fact still remains.

It. Goes. On

Lexie Todd knew these 3 simple words. They were her mantra. So, after dealing with years of abuse at the hands of her boyfriend and the father of her son, she knows what needs to be done. With help from her best friend Mollie, they go on the run.

After months of being on the run they finally find the perfect town to settle in. Unable to trust and always having her guard up, the last thing Lexie wants is to get involved with Lukas Gunn.

Persistent, annoying, bossy, over protective and extremely hot, Detective Lukas Gunn.

After an incident leaves her vulnerable, Lukas knows there’s something haunting her. He’s determined to find out, wanting to protect her and make her his. But Lexie is determined also. Not wanting to give up her past, she pushes him away. Repeatedly.

But when history repeats itself, will Lexie finally be able to trust those around her to keep her safe? Will Lukas be able to save her? Or will Lexie succumb to only knowing what it’s like to be Unbeautifully Loved?
Lukas Gunn.... that's about says it all if you know what I mean ;)  Seriously though.... Unbeautifully Loved is one of those books that I could not put down to save my life, which was kind of made clear when I started it after my kids went to bed, barely kissed hubby when he left for work, and didn't even realize it was going on 4am until I was struggling to keep my eyes open.  It was seriously that good!  But I will admit that it took a little longer for the story to really pick up for me... but once it did....

Lexie is one of those damaged heroines that you want to hug.  The things she went through were downright heart breaking and I will be the first to say that unless you have been in Lexie's shoes don't question her decisions on why she dealt with what she dealt with... and I will say that Emma Grayson does one fabulous job at describing what goes through a victims mind during and after their nightmare.  It's painful to see Lexie struggle because of her past but it's absolutely beautiful to watch her strength grow.  Then throw in a little Lukas Gunn and there ya go!

There are no words to describe Lukas... he totally has that baddass alpha thing going on but he's super sweet too.  And he knows he wants Lexie, which we all know what that means in baddass alpha male world - nothing will stop him... not even her!

Watching these two fall for each other had me in a constant smile but what really impressed me and grabbed even more of my interest... were the secondary characters.  They really brought this book together and made everything flow easily.  Then there was the little bits of information about a secondary character... and it was just enough information that made me cock my head to the side and wonder... will we be getting his story too?  So of course, when I saw at the end of Unbeautifully Loved that there will indeed be another book and it just so happens that it's this characters book... I did a have sigh of relief and a little happy dance.

I thoroughly enjoyed not only this story but Emma's writing style and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of her work.  Unbeautifully Loved is definitely one to check out!
