Crash Review

CRASH by Nicole Williams

Book description...
Southpointe High is the last place Lucy wanted to wind up her senior year of school. Right up until she stumbles into Jude Ryder, a guy whose name has become its own verb, and synonymous with trouble. He's got a rap sheet that runs longer than a senior thesis, has had his name sighed, shouted, and cursed by more women than Lucy dares to ask, and lives at the local boys home where disturbed seems to be the status quo for the residents. Lucy had a stable at best, quirky at worst, upbringing. She lives for wearing the satin down on her ballet shoes, has her sights set on Juilliard, and has been careful to keep trouble out of her life. Up until now.
Jude's everything she needs to stay away from if she wants to separate her past from her future. Staying away, she's about to find out, is the only thing she's incapable of.
For Lucy Larson and Jude Ryder, love's about to become the thing that tears them apart.

Have you ever read a book thinking "Can this person's life get any worse..." and then move on to the hope that it's just not possible?  Then once you think that more hope is just around the corner something else happens?  Or you turn the page with your heart in your throat thinking "There is NO way the author is going to do this to me with only a few pages to go..."  Yeah... I've read a few of those but none of them affected me the way that Crash did.

Lucy, a high school senior who has just transferred to a new school, is a pretty cool chick.  I really liked her... no don't go thinking she didn't make me angry because believe me... she did!  But she's a 17 year old girl, what do you expect more than a little drama?  More than all that though, she was funny, compassionate, and in her own way pretty sweet.  She's also a survivor... of what I'm not going to share and you may not agree with my opinion on that... but it's what I saw in her.  It's what I saw because of how she presented herself, how the rest of her family dealt with the situation, and how Lucy tried to just be the best Lucy she could be... which at times was a bit over the top considering she had a bit of a temper and a bit of a smart mouth.. but hey - those are things I seem to like when it comes to heroine's because they remind me of myself in some ways.  Everything seemed to be fine in Lucy's world until the day Jude Ryder came crashing into it.

...SIGH... Jude... how can I go about describing my thoughts about Jude without contradicting myself... I adored him one minute, then wanted to punch him the next, then wanted to reach in press his head to my chest and just hold him in my arms in hopes to take his past away... the poor boy has gone through so much that I didn't even know how to process the truth behind his words.  This boy defines Bad Boy and yet... that's not who he wants to be.  As a matter of fact, I don't think that's who he ever wanted to be.  But when you're told something so many times and the people who should be sheltering you end up exposing you... how can you not finally decide to give up and show the world you are what they think?   It was heartbreaking to watch everything play out... he wants to do something worth remembering but he makes a bad choice... but the best choice he ever made was the day he laid eyes on Lucy.

This is one of those books that you just have to read because there is no way to actually come out and talk about my feelings for the book without telling you what it was about and not give anything away.  This is definitely a book to experience so you can see the beauty behind all of the heartbreak.  I know I beg for spoilers until my eyes turn brown from so much brown nosing my girls to give me something... and sometimes they do because they know I need a heads up about something that might "upset" me to the point of not continuing but most of the time they tell me no... go figure!  But I didn't have any with this book and since this is something I rarely admit... because let's face it I LOVE spoilers so I know what I have to look forward to... I'm glad I didn't get that with this book.  This book was not what I was expecting.  I knew, after having read her Eden Trilogy, it would be good, but I didn't expect it to be the kind of good that has me ready to read it again!

CRASH by Nicole Williams is a heartbreaking yet beautiful story of two kids that deserved the love they had for each other in ways I can't even begin to explain.  Nicole has this creative ability to suck you right into her characters lives like you're actually there and make you feel what these characters are feeling right along with them.  I look forward to reading more of her work!!

Psst... Right now Eternal Eden (Eden Trilogy, Book One) by Nicole Williams is free on Amazon.  I'm not sure how long that will last so hurry up and download it!!!

Happy Reading!
