Sudden Response (EMS #1) Review

Sudden Response (EMS Series)by R.L. Mathewson

 Book description...
Josephine (Joe for short) and Eric, the EMT crew of Echo 17 have been best friends since they were eight years old. They've been through a lot together over the years, but nothing like what they're about to experience.
As the only man in Joe's life it's Eric's job to be there for her and take care of her even while he drives her crazy, especially if he's driving her crazy. There's nothing he wouldn't do for her and when things go south he decides that maybe it's time that Joe moved on, but could he?

OMG.... Sudden Response was an absolute FAN-TAS-TIC book!  I laughed my booty off non-stop and absolutely adored the characters.  Joe is my kind of girl.... She's like this little ball of fun with a smart sassy mouth who sees herself as strong and independent... I just ♥ her!!! She's an EMT and works with her best friend, Eric,  who she's been friends with for over 20 years.
She loved that they were comfortable with each other and could tell each other everything.
Eric.... wow... just... wow.... Eric is absolutely hilarious, I seriously could not get enough of him.  He's like this little kid who thrives on the attention he gets from Joe.  He loves his friendship with Joe, it's important to him... extremely important... so important that it's ruined all of his past relationships but that doesn't really matter to him because he's never been in love.... except for with Joe
This was his best friend, his Joe.  They were close and he didn't give a damn if anyone had a problem with it.  Joe kept him happy, kept him grounded, and had been there for him for everything in his life without question.
So they have this amazing friendship and they work extremely well together but when Joe gets hurt at work Eric decides he needs to find a way to get her a "safer" job... Men!   I have to admit, the thought is sweet... obviously he loves Joe and can't even think about what would happen should anything ever happen to her.... but come on dude, you know it's gonna piss her off... especially when you say things like....ummmm, nevermind!  Anyway... they have this huge fight about this plus a few other things that seem to all happen within a matter of days and their fighting leads to.... a little smoochin'.... and let me just tell you that smoochin'... was HAWT!!!!!!

But smoochin' was as far as it got because they were interrupted...damn Nathan...  and I have to say how terribly frustrating that was.... the chemistry between Joe and Eric is so strong that I was begging for him to kiss her way before he actually did.  Anyway.... So they go on about their merry ways and never did talk about the whole Kitchen incident... much to Eric displeasure... HA!  A man pissed because a woman doesn't want to 'talk' about a little make out session.... And when he brings it up she totally dodges the subject and plays it off like he was asking about something else.  When he finally corners her... more like lays on her.... into talking about a few issues they need to work out between the two of them.... things get... a little ....  ummm..... heated.... well.... more like smoldering!

So things progress between the two of them.... or so you'd think.  But after a weekend of "living out some fantasies" and even confessing their love for each other in the middle of..... ya know..... Eric seems to think that he is no good for her and his track record is proof of that.  So he decides he's going to give her space.....more like pull away.... while she's away for a training seminar.

Needless to say this pisses Joe right off!  She loves Eric and doesn't want to lose his friendship but now she's confused because.... well.... can sex ever really just be sex?  Especially if it happens between two best friends that already have over 20 years of being inseparable and that love each other unconditionally!  Eric seems even more confused than Joe.... well I guess scared is more like it.  He can't lose Joe but is afraid to be with her because he's afraid to hurt her but Nathan..... ah... gotta love Nathan (who I hope will get his own book???) helps Eric realize his feelings for Joe go way beyond just friendship and that in all reality they are perfect for each other.  So Eric... and Nathan for moral support... take off after Joe so he can confess his intentions!
"I love you too, Eric, which is why I'm not going to push you into anything that you don't want.  I'd rather be your friend than lose you," she said, sounding miserable.
"And I'd rather have you, Joe.  I'm in love with you and I want to be with you, Joe,"
Awwwww.... I just love these two!!!!  Ok so they head home as a couple in love and their relationship is just as adorable as their friendship.  It seems the only thing that changes is the intimacy.....

Okay so I have to say I absolutely loved this book.... it was an awesome light, easy, hilarious read.  The ending was absolutely adorable.... not to mention funny and it must be noted that the epilogue was.... The. Best. Epilogue. Ever.... seriously, I cracked up laughing.  Not only did it show us our adorable couple a few years down the road but it was funny... I mean how awkward could that be?  I think I'd die if I were in Joe's shoes.... I mean really, just thinking about it and I can't stop laughing!

As I said in my last R.L. Mathewson review... this is one author to watch out for!  She is quickly becoming one of my favorites with her quick wit and easy plots that keep me entertained...Sudden Response (EMS Series) is definitely a book to check out... I mean the price alone is what sold me before I even read the product description.... not to mention R.L. is starting to rank right up there with my serious Kristen Ashley addiction ;)

Tequila Truth Review

Tequila Truth by Mari Carr is an extremely hot short read that will leave you hot, bothered, and asking for more.

Book description....
One's the loneliest number. Two's company. Three's a fantasy come true. The rules of Tequila Truth are quite simple. Shots are poured, a question asked, and only absolute truth can be the answer. Kylie Halston has been playing the game with her roommates, Colt and Heath, since their freshmen year of college. On his twenty-fifth birthday, Heath poses a question: "What is your ultimate sex fantasy?" While Colt and Heath's fantasies are too hot for words, it's Kylie's sex dream that hits a little too close to home for all of them. Her wish? For a menage a trois with two men, complete with bondage and a bit of spanking for good measure.  Colt and Heath are only too willing to make Kylie's fantasies come true and they make a proposal—one no-holds-barred, sexed-up weekend where nothing is off the menu. The only question is, come Monday, will their platonic relationship survive the passion?
Warning, you will need to crank up the air conditioning before reading as this title contains all the following erotic goodies: explicit sex, menage a trois (m,f,m), anal sex, spanking, bondage, and graphic language.

***Warning to my readers*** This is not a typical review for me... if you don't like what you read in the warning above then brace yourself.  I tried to use my language wisely in hopes that I don't offend anyone but I have to say that at the end of the day these reviews are my opinion and my opinion alone.  I love reading and love to share my feelings on the books I've enjoyed.  Please take in to consideration when reading any of my reviews that all of them will contain some foul language as the books themselves contain foul language.  If it upsets you to see any rude words in my reviews then chances are you're going to be upset with any of these books.

Wow... this book was, as my girls say, Hout... like crazy Hot!!!!  Now if it's not obvious by the book description or the warning this book was extremely detailed, gave amazing descriptions of kusse and pik.

Kylie, Colt, and Heath have lived together for seven years.  They have an amazing relationship and all get along amazingly.  Kylie is so sweet.. no where close to being a Taeve but yet she still keeps both Colt and Heath in line... well as much as she can considering.  Kylie has fantasies that she desperately wants to come true and one night of playing Tequila Truth has her confessing to Colt and Heath what she's been secretly desiring.

Months go by and both Colt and Heath have been struggling with the way they view Kylie now... before they found out about her fantasy they looked at her as their room mate, their best friend... but now... well now they see a beautiful woman they'd both love to Kneppe and they'd like to kneppe a lot.

While Heath is out of town on business, Colt comes home early from work to find Kylie in a less than comfortable situation... actually a real Lort situation...  Kneppe... he's mad at not only what he finds is being done but at her as well for putting herself in such a vulnerable situation.  So he decides to talk to Heath about what they need to do with their "Little Darlin'".

Kneppe....It was amazing to watch these long time friends and room mates come together to share something special together that was only supposed to last a weekend and end up realizing their arrangement should last longer.   Lort.... it was hot and sweet all at the same time.  Can't say I wouldn't mind being in a situation where I could have a pik or two for that matter.

If your looking for a short, hot, extremely sexually gratifying read then you should definitely check out Tequila Truth by Mari Carr

I was on the hunt for the perfect book to recommend to my Anonymous commenter who was appalled by use of words in a previous review.  I hope this review is more to your liking and I have officially dedicated this review to you!

Thank you to my lovely friend Gitte for this recommendation... you're a Gem honey ♥

Protector (Dark Ops #4) Review

Protector by Catherine Mann is an amazing romantic suspense read....

Book description....
After barely surviving enemy torture, Captain Chuck Tanaka doesn’t trust himself to do more than ride a desk—but new orders leave him no choice. Assigned to the investigation of a mob boss whose luxury cruise ship is reportedly a hub for terrorist activity, Tanaka goes undercover. His target: JoLynn Taylor, the mob boss’s daughter.  As a child, JoLynn saw her beloved uncle murdered. Since then, she’s stayed far away from her father’s crooked empire. But when he falls ill, she returns, hoping to mend the gap between them. Instead, she finds herself on the run, one step ahead of unknown enemies. The only thing keeping her alive is the man she knows as Charles Tomas, the only man she’s ever been able to trust.  Unfortunately, he’s also the man determined to destroy her family…

This is the forth book in the Dark Ops series and is scheduled to be released on March 6, 2012.  I have not read the first three which I plan to change soon but I received an ARC of Protector and wanted to get my review out there so you can all check out Cathy's amazing skills at writing a romantic suspense, she writes Military Men quite well and who doesn't absolutely ♥ a man in uniform?

What can I say... I have a huge soft spot for Military heroes and Chuck was definitely no exception to that.  He's this smokin hot guy with a tortured past and I mean that in every way possible.... from his childhood to his capture.  He's that guy you just want to pull into your arms and offer him any kind of comfort you can... whatever way you can ;) and he has dimples... a man with dimples is just down right sexy as hell ♥
Dimples.  Angel Kisses.  She savored a rare memory of her mother explaining the tiny indentations as special kisses from heaven.
I had to share this... I love dimples, I have dimples... so reading this just made my day and brought a huge smile to my face because I absolutely adore this explanation :).

It's been 2 years since he's been out on a job and his first job gets him up close and a little more personal than he's comfortable with, with the lovely Jolynn Taylor.

Jolynn.... I liked her but didn't quite love her, I felt for her but still got frustrated with her.... She had a life full of rejection by everyone... especially her Father.  I really felt for her with that but I just couldn't help but get frustrated by the little tantrums she would have when ever she was feeling a rejection coming from Chuck... then again now that I'm thinking about it I have to say maybe I do get it more than I thought, she didn't know that Chuck was dealing with some serious struggling when it came to turning away from her or stopping her..  Anyway, Jolynn has boarded her father's cruise ship after years of estrangement from him because he's fallen ill after a heart attack.  Things don't go so well for her on board and she ends up spending more time with Chuck which she's loving and hating at the same time.

Forced to be in close proximity of each other for days Chuck and Jolynn finally.... yes FINALLY.... give into the urges they have for each other and wow... just wow!  The anticipation was interesting to watch but it was like an explosion when they finally came together.... The passion and chemistry was so thick you could almost feel it.

They're still running from the danger and when Chuck feels like it's time to move and Jolynn decides it's time to go home to her father... and that pisses Chuck off because he does not want her to feel her fathers rejection again but most of all he wants to keep her in the safety of his arms where she feels right.... he hasn't realized it yet but that man has fallen for her and fallen hard at that.  He still takes her to her father and when he leaves he has that tight feeling in his chest and can't shake the urge to turn around and put her in the seat next to him where she belongs.

Jolynn pushed away, even though it hurt but she was doing it for a reason, she'd already fallen and knew the only way to do what she had to do was to push him away... for good or so she thinks...

Protector was a great read..... I always enjoy a great romantic suspense story and have to say that Catherine Mann always delivers on that front!  This is not my first Catherine Mann book, I've read 3 or 4 others and I have thoroughly enjoyed everyone of them....She knows how to combine romance and heart pumping suspense and boy does she know how to create an amazing man in a uniform that will have you drooling in now time!

I have to admit, I normally do NOT like more than two P.O.V.'s but Catherine has a skill at switching P.O.V.'s without the reader getting lost... with that said.... Not only do we watch a beautiful love story unfold between Chuck and Jolynn...who I enjoyed watching them struggle with their attraction and feelings for one another and then watching their relationship grow.... but we also get a secondary love story as well between Rex and Livia.  I'm guessing here because like I said this is the first book in this series I've read... but I'm guessing this is more of a follow up between Rex and Livia who played a cameo in previous books.  It wasn't hard to follow along with this and quite frankly was nice to get a double dose of lovin'  :)

Check out Catherine Mann's Dark Ops series... I plan on downloading the first 3 books in this series so I can catch up because the fifth book... Guardian will be released September of this year.  Here is the link to Defender (Dark Ops Series) the first book in this captivating series.

Happy Reading!

Rock Chick Redemption (R.C. #3) Review

Rock Chick Redemption by Kristen Ashley is another satisfying treat that will leave you drooling for more.... more of the Hot Bunch that is!

Book description.....
Roxie’s on the run from a bad boyfriend who will not catch the hint that it is o-v-e-r. She’s in no mood for love at first sight, but when her eyes fall on Hank, it’s trouble from the get-go. Roxie tries to hold Hank at arms length but Hank wants to be a closer (as in, a lot closer). Roxie’s trouble catches up with her and Hank wants to help but Roxie knows in her heart that she’s no good for a white hat guy. The problem is no one agrees with her, especially her crazy hippie best friend Annette or her parents; the even crazier small-Indiana-town Herb and Trish. Toss into the mix the gang from Rock Chick and Rock Chick Rescue and Roxie finds herself totally outnumbered. Climb in for another Rock Chick wild ride through Rock Chick Redemption. As the odds stack up against Roxie, she has no choice but to hold on and just ride it out through the kidnappings, car chases, society parties, a riot at the strip club, Hank getting “Mom Bombed” and one crazy night at the Haunted House.  During all this Hank works at convincing her she really wants to stay and he, along with the Hot Bunch, go all out to make her safe. Hank also needs to work on showing Roxie that her past decisions don’t mean her future can’t include something as downright delicious as… normal.

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE this series.  Kristen has done a fantastic job of creating these stories that keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for what's going to happen next.... in every way possible.  There is no doubt how much this series has captured my attention...... of course having the Hot Bunch tends to help keep that attention ;)

Roxie... who happens to be Tex's niece and boy is she stubborn just like him.... comes out to Denver for a visit with her uncle and to try and get rid of her good for nothing ex once and for all.  I really liked Roxie... but... I didn't ♥ her.... her character build up was awesome... perfect actually but there was something about her that I just couldn't get over... something the other Rock Chicks don't seem to have... and that something is what kept me from absolutely loving her.  It's stupid but I just can't help it.. I mean I really felt for Roxie, like felt for her to the point of I had tears in my own eyes and I understood the pain she went through, the feelings of thinking you're not good enough.....but even with all that I couldn't actually get over this one little thing and just adore her... and I really hate that I didn't because in all reality Roxie was an amazing woman... she's beautiful and I'm not saying her looks.... of course she's beautiful but I mean her beauty on the inside is just amazing...

Moving on.... So Roxie is in Denver to visit with... actually meet... her Uncle Tex and put her plan to ditch the ex for good in motion.  When meeting Tex for the first time she also lays her eyes on one very handsome hunkalicious man with whiskey eyes....

..... Sigh ..... Hank.... wow.... just.... WOW!  Okay so I'm sitting here wondering if it's possible for Kristen to find a way to perfect a man anymore than she already has.  I mean Lee and Eddie were both their own versions of Male Perfection but now we've got Hank.... Hank 'Whiskey' Nightengale.... I can't decide what it is about him that just screams.... worship me, you know you want to.... but Sweet Jesus, he is hot!  He has that whole sweet, boy next door charm about him... YET... he is still that total Alpha Male that carries that bad boy vibe too...that... well we all know is just irresistible!   This is my Hank visual... thank you to my girls Gitte and Bridget for helping me confirm that this could indeed be Whiskey ♥ although Michele and Jenny both said he could be Gray (from Play It Safe) too... hmmm tough decision because both those boys get my blood boiling...

Hank, just like the rest of the Hot Bunch knows what he wants and intends to get it without wasting anytime... and when I say that I mean Hank moved in there FAST....
"Sweetheart, I'm thirty-five years old and I've had a fuck of a lot more lovers than you counted on your one hand last night.  I've come to the point, with women, that I know what I want when I see it and I haven't seen anything in a long time that interests me as much as you."
Needless to say Roxie is under the impression that she will be moving back to Chicago or going to Mexico or something like that so even though she doesn't want to give into Hank she still does.  Unfortunately the next morning Roxie is kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend from Hank's house.  It's three days before she's found by one of the Hot Bunch boys and taken back to Denver only she does NOT want Hank to see her looking this way... which is understandable... I mean I wouldn't want that sexy Adonis to see me like that either, not to mention I think Roxie definitely deserved some time to sort herself after what she had to endure, I get totally get it Girl and feel your pain but you better not keep that sweet, sexy man waiting.... so she's taken to Tex's.

Hank tries... he really does but since she continues to push him away and then proceeds to admit she loves her ex..... he decides he's done and goes as far as to make sure he no longer shows any kind of emotion towards Roxie or her decision to press charges against her ex... I have to say I was so mad at Roxie for pushing him away but I can't deny that I understood where she was coming from.... I mean the poor woman just lived in hell for three days and needs time to come to terms with what just happened.... BUT.... I think she should have taken that strong shoulder he was offering and leaned on it to get the strength she needed and deserved!  It doesn't take long before it comes out that she is not STILL in love with Billy but that she loved him... as in past tense, slight misunderstanding there lol.... Hank comes flying back in and wow.... I don't even know how to express how I feel about him and what he did other than to say... yes please..  So they get back into being a 'them' and it's really quite beautiful and I have to say that because Roxie is so dazzled by Hank she doesn't quite have the chance to fight him and Hank... well he's so damn sweet he doesn't hold his feelings back especially after hearing "She's the One"
"You are 'She's the One'."
I gasped.  "I am not 'She's the One'," I snapped.
"You're completely 'She's the One'."

How can you resist a man that is not afraid to admit that he has not only waited to meet the girl... his version... in this song but yet he will argue with you so you know his feelings are real and they are starting to run quite deep!!!... Roxie, girl.... how can you resist him?

These are just the beginning of Hank and Roxies problems... well mostly Roxie's problems but Hank being... well... that hot possessive alpha male ready to take care of what's his... steps in and tries to take care of Roxie's problems so she can sit back and have fun with the Rock Chicks.  WOW... do those Rock Chicks have fun or what?.... the stuff they do and situations they find themselves in are down right hilarious... sad but totally true thing about this is... I can so see my girls and I doing all that stupid shit and lovin every minute of it just like our awesome Rock Chicks..... And now I can't help but picture the R.W.S.S. lovelies and I painting the town our own crazy version of Red.... Vegas anyone??

It is no secret that I absolutely ♥ Kristen's books...  I don't know how she does it but Kristen's books have this hold over me... I mean I have absolutely loved every single one that I've read so far... and yes I have read the entire Rock Chick Series and let me just tell you that Rock Chick Redemption gives you a small taste of the fictional love of my life...sigh....   Anyway, this series is awesome... And Rock Chick Redemption is most definitely an awesome addition to the series...it's got everything you could possibly want in a book... or at least it's got everything I could possible want in a book.... Hot Guys, Beautiful Strong Girls, amazing friendships, a beautiful love story, hilarious action, some emotional moments... good and bad, and best of all a Happily Ever After that will leave you smiling for days because you have grown to care so deeply about these characters you can't help but feel the deserve what they've found in each other!

I highly recommend Kristen Ashley's Rock Chick Redemption!  Just like all KA books it will leave you wanting more of this amazing series... or craving more of those gorgeous Hot Bunch Boys... or if you're like me and become addicted... it will leave you simply craving more of her books!

Happy Reading!

One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress #2) Review

One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 2) by Jeaniene Frost is an awesome second book in this addicting series.

*This review will contain spoilers if you have not read  Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 1)yet.  Check out the review of book one Here.

Book description....
You can run from the grave, but you can't hide . . .Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She's still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind. Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she'll find that desire lasts forever . . . and that Bones won't let her get away again.

Okay so I'm going to start off by saying this book totally made up for me being so pissed off at Cat for leaving Bones at the end of Half Way to the Grave....in more ways than you're thinking too and I'll give you a little hint....Chapter 32.... just sayin' ;-)

Cat is now working for the FBI in a special department that investigates paranormal activity.  She's acquired a team that consists of..... Don (her boss), Tate, Juan, Dave, and Cooper (These names will be important later as you'll see a lot of them throughout the series.).  They work together in tracking down vampires that they either kill or capture.  On an assignment Cat comes in contact with one of Bones life long friends, Ian, and ends up letting him go with his life because she feels that she owes Bones for all he did for her..... plus she's still madly in love with him.  Because of this she has now caught Ian's attention and now Ian wants to "acquire" her for himself.

Cat and Bones are still estranged from each other but that changes when they see each other for the first time....or at least Cat sees Bones for the first time in four years at her best friend Denise's wedding.  She tries to avoid him at all costs because she knows that her self control is very minimal around him
Why did he have to be so gorgeous, why did he have to stand so close, and why did I still love him so much?
Bones sets out to make a point...... knowing she has a silver knife in her hands and has the opportunity to kill him, he bites her and drinks her blood slowly to give her time to make her choice.  She does by dropping the knife and clinging to Bones.....can he get any hotter?  I mean seriously the guy is so freaking hot I wanted to reach in the book and pull him out and keep him in my pocket so I could hear him talk in that sexy accent anytime I want.  Not to mention I had this urge to reach in the book and smack Cat for not running to his arms, profess her undying love for him, and apologize profusely for leaving him....I'm still a little mad at her for that.

Cat knows she can't live without Bones but still tries to keep her distance.  Bones doesn't plan on letting her get away again because just like Cat, he couldn't live with out her and asks for her trust so they can be together
"So you tried to get on with your life because you believed it would never work between us.  But you see, I couldn't get on with my life because I knew we could work.  I've been looking for you every day since you left me, Kitten, and I'm sick of being without you.  You've had your shot at things, now let me have mine."
Seriously.....how could she resist him?  She has his understanding of why she left him and he's asking for another shot at them together because he has no doubts.  BUT....she still thinks her age will hurt them and he'll get tired of her..... take it as long as you can get it sister.....I know I would ;-)  Bones lets her in on a little secret regarding her lifespan that Don knew about so Cat being Cat flies off the handle and gives Don a little piece of her mind..... then takes a week off work ;)

Finally.....FINALLY...... Cat gives Bones his shot, there are conditions but he doesn't care what they are as long as Cat is in his life again. Their celebrating is short lived because not only does her Mother find out but one of her team members watches Bones walk into Cat's  house.  So she gets called into work and is forced to listen to and see her team treat her as though she is putting all them in jeopardy all because of a dead guy
"You know the old saying, Once you go dead, no one's better in bed."
O.M.G.....♥ it!  It was perfect timing!  Her team is NOT happy about Bones being around and they take to watching her even more closely.  It's not until Cat is almost murdered by a hit man, Bones sneaks into the compound and finds the person responsible for Cat's almost murder that the team....with the exception of Tate..... accepts Bones being a part of them.  Not that they really accept him because after all he is still a vampire, but they realize that he has Cat's best interest in mind and will do anything to not only keep her safe but make her happy.  Plus he goes beyond and helps out one of the team members.... in a pretty big way... such a big way that the rest of the team was not only grateful but also looked at Bones in a new light!

I absolutely LOVE Cat and Bones together.....he's so smitten and in love that he literally does anything and everything to make her happy and she is so territorial of him that....well just wait until you read why she wanted chapter 32 to happen the way it happened ;-) although she got it a little better than asked for.....

One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 2)  by Jeaniene Frost is a highly entertaining read that will have you begging for more....Begging for more Cat and Bones that is.  I'm anxious to start At Grave's End and see what happens next with our adorable couple.  Jeaniene has done such an amazing job at building up the characters that you feel a connection with them, you can't help but root for the happily ever after for Cat and Bones!  The secondary characters are just as amazing, they're well rounded and just as much a part of the story as our main characters.  After reading Halfway to the Grave you definitely have to read One Foot in the Grave.... you will not be disappointed and if you're like me and got mad at Cat....well you may still be frustrated with her but you'll be over-joyed that she's back with Bones and even more over-joyed with the ending of One Foot in the Grave!

Happy Reading!

Playing For Keeps (A Neighbor from Hell #1) Review

Playing For Keeps by R.L. Mathewson

Book description....
Done with being the world's biggest pushover, Haley decides that things are going to change starting with the aggravating neighbor who has too much charm and not enough restraint. What she didn't expect was to sucked into his world, but Haley has a game plan and she won't let herself forget just what the bad boy next door is capable of.  The last thing Jason expected was for his little shy neighbor to go Rambo on him over some ruined flowers. After he decides to take her under his wing he can't help but that notice that she fits very nicely in his life. Now the only left is to convince her that this is anything but a game.

I am thouroughly pleased with Playing For Keeps..... this is my first R.L. Mathewson book and it was recommended to me by a few of my Girls as something that is somewhat similar to Kristen Ashely.... and since we all know how much I ♥ Kristen I couldn't help but immediately download this book.  I was not disappointed.... quite pleased to be honest.  While I might not see the similarities between R.L. Mathewson and Kristen Ashley I will definitely say that R.L. has got a way with humor.  I cracked up laughing throughout the entire book.  The characters are so funny.... granted a little immature.... but so funny I couldn't stop myself from numerous LOL moments.

Okay so I guess you want some thoughts on the book.... here we go....  I loved Haley, she cracked me up... well once she came out of her shell.  For years Haley was a huge pushover... she let people walk all over her and rather than cause any drama just agreed to... well just about anything..... that is until she see's her obnoxious neighbor from hell ripping her tulips out of her flower bed..... the tulips are quite special to her so she takes action.... and turns a hose on him.  Way to go Haley... put him in his place sister!!

Jason.... couldn't help but find him adorable.... he was immature, loved his food, and openly admits to being an asshole... he doesn't do relationships with women but for some reason when shy little Haley finally lets loose on him and they're forced to spend an afternoon together he finds himself a new buddy.... a hot new buddy, that he has become a little protective of.

Their friendship is cute..... it's sweet..... but most of all it's hilarious.  Jason is obliviously addicted to spending all his free time with Haley and now that she's coming out of her shell she has become addicted to giving him a hard time.  The things she does to him.... OMG... I cracked up.  She's too funny... the whole teasing him with the cake on his chest while he's tied to her bed... LOL, there's a lot more to that and not what you think but I had tears running down my cheeks from laughing so hard.  They become good friends, even admit to themselves they are probably best friends.... BUT their friendship starts gets a little interesting.  Jason can't seem to keep his hands off Haley...  and it gets even worse when him and his friends forget to check in at the hotel they're staying at after a Yankee's game... where they find themselves begging for mercy at Haley's door and Jason and Haley end up sharing a bed.
"Look woman, I don't know what you did, but I haven't been able to sleep since we got back from New York.  I'm tired and bitchy and all I want is some sleep so cuddle your ass up with me or so help me I will kill you."
They were both already fighting feelings for each other before this and now that they've both come to the realization that they can't sleep with out each other.... well..... it's gotten even harder for them... both of them.  As a matter of fact Jason even admits to himself that Haley is that someone he trusted and cared most about in the world.... and then..... Haley takes a chance.  After defending her best friend to a total jerk her and Jason are laying in bed and he's teasing her so she decides she's going to show him she can kick his ass and he should be afraid....LOL... I loved her enthusiasm, the girl had spunk!!!  Anyway, he pins her to the bed and tells her to unleash on him and when she's putting everything she's got into it and nothings working she pulls out the big guns.... She kisses him.... not a hot kiss, not even a firm kiss, just a brush of her lips across his and it knocks him on his ass.

Jason wants Haley... wants her bad but knows that she's too good for him and deserves the world so up until now he's tried to mind himself and not go there... but now he's determined to do everything he can to try and make her happy.  I have to say they are an absolutely adorable couple... there is nothing hotter than a play boy who falls and falls as hard as Jason does.
He loved the way she looked, the way she reacted, he loved everything about her.  She was the most precious thing in the world to him.
Things between the two of them are going great... amazing.  They're both coming to terms with their feelings for the other and realizing how deep those feelings actually run.  He even takes her home and introduces her to his family... which is a huge step considering she's the first girl he's ever brought home... The only thing they haven't done is actually have sex and Haley has a reason for that.... she doesn't want to just be a notch in someone's bed post, she wants to wait until she's with a man she's in love with... a man she wants to spend the rest of her life with and she comes to realize that man is Jason.

Well that is until he totally screws up because he let some girl....go figure... a girl who wants him and comes off as not only desperate but a total beotch... convince him that Haley was playing him.  So he gets this idea in his head that maybe this girl is right and decides to test his little theory.... dumbass!!!  He does, she agrees, then he goes and opens his big mouth and ruins it all... I mean come ON!!!!  Seriously... all I could think after this was... Are men really that stupid?  I mean I know the answer to that question because well... yeah most are but seriously!  So needless to say, Haley is hurt and I don't blame her, not only would I be hurt... I'd be pissed.  So she ends things.... or at least tries to....

Playing For Keeps (A Neighbor From Hell Series)by R.L. Mathewson is a wonderful read.... I recommend it especially if you are looking for a light easy read with a lot of humor, an adorable friendship, some hot lovin', a picture perfect Happily Ever After, and a little drama... not to mention the amazon price for Kindle makes it even better ;-).   R.L. Mathewson is definitely an author to look out for... I know I will be... well especially considering after reading this book I went on a little R.L. Mathewson spending spree and downloaded the next book....Perfection.... in A Neighbor From Hell Series... plus I may have also downloaded 3 or 4 others..... *smiling a very innocent smile*... (Jenny my lovely... you are starting to rub off on me ♥!)   The humor in this book alone is what made up my mind to purchase more books by R.L.   Check out this book.... it's definitely worth it!!!

Mystery Man (Dream Man #1) Review

Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley... It's no secret that I am quite obsessed with Kristen's books.... actually I love her books, it's become a danger zone for me because well..... for one I have yet to find one that I didn't love and for another each of her books comes with every thing I like in a book..... each of her alpha males is the pure definition of drool worthy.  So just like every other KA book..... Mystery Man is like the perfect treat that you slowly savor while hoping there's more to come once you've finished your plate..... Oh and there's more in the Dream Man Series.... more drool worthy alpha men that will make your heart skip a beat.

Book description...
While drinking cosmopolitans, Gwendolyn Kidd meets the man of her dreams. Then she takes him home. Then she wakes up alone. But her fear that she lost her dream man turns into a relationship with a mystery man when, night after night in the dead of night, he comes back for more. Hoping it will blossom into something real, she lets him.  But she doesn’t even know his name.  Gwen’s struggling with the decision to end their crazy non-relationship when her sister-from-hell, Ginger’s best friend pays a visit and warns Gwen that if she and her sister don't get smart, they'll both get d-e-a-d, dead. Gwen has no clue what’s going on but she’s used to Ginger’s antics and decides to lay the problem on her sister’s biker boyfriend's doorstep. Bad choice. She hits the Denver Underground radar with a big, loud ping.  This means Gwen’s Mystery Man, Cabe “Hawk” Delgado has to step in to keep her safe. But when Hawk gets a dose of Gwen in the daylight, he makes the decision that he finally wants real with Gwen. However when Gwen gets a dose of badass, bossy, straight-talker Hawk in the daylight, she decides she’s done.  Thus begins the head-to-head of the Commando vs. Cosmo Girl as Hawk woos Gwen in his own unique way, Gwen survives firebombs, drive-bys, kidnappings, hot pursuits by biker hotties and gorgeous police detectives and discovers the heartbreaking reason why Hawk kept her at arm’s length.  And as all this happens, Gwen finds that her sister’s troubles are serious trouble and she must decide who to keep alive: her sister-from-hell or the man of her dreams.

I loved this book.... I mean really loved it!  Gwen is awesome.... I mean come on she edits books for a living, what's not to love about that?  But seriously... she's awesome... she has this outgoing personality that just screams fun, she's got an amazing group of friends, and she is a total smart ass..... which gets her some attention from some smokin' hot men!  So she's had this sort of relationship with her mystery man for the past year and a half.... doesn't know his name or what he looks like during the day, she doesn't even talk to him.  At first I was a little confused by this.... I was confused because I didn't get why she let him keep coming back for more or why she didn't say something to him.  But then the more I thought about it I got it....I'll explain that later ;)

Gwen's sister, Ginger, has gotten herself into a world of trouble and this trouble has started finding it's way to Gwen.  Because of this trouble Gwen has now gotten the attention of 3 absolutely smokin' hot men that have all made their intentions known.  Who should she pick???  I don't think that was ever really a question that needed to be answered because well..... she had a year and half of a.... whatever kind of relationship you want to call it with her Mystery Man......Cabe 'Hawk' Delgado.

Mmmmm..... Hawk..... yum!  I've gotta give a shout out to my lovely friend Gitte for finding this picture and sharing it with our book club ♥.  Speaking of my lovelies in my book club we have discussed Hawk and his utter gorgeousness at length.... I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned that he'll make you want to crack a moisty (I have found another use for Sali-isms my lovelies ♥)  Hawk is an ex-commando now specializing in badass world where he has his own group of badass commandos.   Talk about an alpha male.... just like all of Kristen's books ..... he knew what he wanted when he finally got a little of Gwen during the day and he liked what he had before but now..... he likes it a lot
"About five seconds after I left you today, things between you and me, they changed"
So their relationship for the past year and a half has only been about sex... lots of sex but that's all there was to it.  At first I was confused.... I couldn't understand why in the world she would have this relationship with this man who she knew nothing about and then let it go on for so long..... BUT then I got to thinking...this type of relationship wouldn't be my thing but when I read a book I like to place myself in the heroines shoes so..... after I got further along in the book I realized that there really was something quite special between Gwen and Hawk only he didn't know how to react to it..... he had a hard time staying away from her but felt he couldn't give her any thing more than what he was already giving her.  And Gwen....well.... she went along with this relationship because deep down she knew.... she knew Hawk was for her and that one day they would have something more.... something beautiful.  All she had to do was wait it out.....maybe a little longer than I would have but then again her subconscious knew what was meant to be.  It also helped when he confessed a few things to her like.... totally missing out, and admitting that he clocked her before she clocked him..... stuff like that ♥

Here's where it gets a little tricky....Gwen is unsure of this new relationship status.... not that she didn't ever want more from Hawk because she did... she would slip in to daydreams about what would happen when he finally decided he wanted more of her.  She's unsure if she likes this Hawk, he comes off as kind of a jerk and his behavior throws her attitude into overdrive like no one else but my goodness when he is being sweet....sigh.....  She tries breaking things off with him but he's having none of that
"You can be as uncertain as you want, Sweet Pea, I'm certain enough for the both of us."
Yes..... he calls her Sweet Pea.... How adorable is that?  He notices things, she got her nickname because that's the scent of her lotion and body wash, she likes expensive shoes and he wants to give them to her, he doesn't like to see her curled into a protective ball..... I love my husband but he wouldn't even notice a quarter of what Hawk does so on that note I have to ask Gwen..... Are you crazy???  Get in there sister... show him how much you appreciate all he's doing for you.... But finally Gwen decides he's worth it, he is worth risking her heart and she becomes just as certain of what they have as he is.

This lasted a week.... an entire week was all it took for both of them to get in so deep that when Hawk told Gwen he couldn't do it anymore she was devastated.... destroyed... She knew she was falling in love with him if not already gone and him throwing it back a day after she told him she would give herself to him completely.... broke her.  It's not until later that Gwen finds out why he reacted the way he did and let me tell you it's heart breaking.... my heart went out to him because his reaction just showed how much he truly cared for Gwen.  I was mad at Hawk for how he handled the situation... real mad.... I understood where he was coming from but at the same time knew he was giving up too quickly.... he was throwing away something special, something that could mean more to him than he ever realized.  But I didn't stay mad at him too long
"But I darkened your door, baby, and you lit up my life again so I'm not lettin' that go."
After forgiving Hawk.... which to be honest wasn't all that hard to do... I mean seriously not only is he hot but there is so much about him that just screams out ★ Absolute Male Perfection ★..... I got upset with Gwen.  She didn't show him much compassion to his past and tried too hard to compare it to what she's been through when there is absolutely no comparison.... I mean I understood her hurt.... boy did I understand it because I hurt right along with her after Hawk said he was done but still..... a little compassion and understanding  would have gone a long way.  But..... just like Hawk it didn't take me long to forgive Gwen and all it took was for her to confess her feelings
"I'm falling in love with you, Cabe."
I absolutely LOVED this book..... I know, I say that about every Kristen Ashley book but I can't help it.  There is something about her writing style that calls to me..... It grabs my attention and doesn't let go, I get consumed by her characters and I feel as if I'm a part of the story.  Mystery Man was no different.... the relationship between Hawk and Gwen consumed me to the point where I laughed, cried, and got mad right along with them, I felt what they felt, and keep cheering them on and rooting for that happily ever after they both deserved.  Check it out.... you'll love it and once you see the heart break Hawk and Gwen go through not only together but what they went through in their past...... you'll be cheering them on and thankful they got the Happily Ever After they both more than deserved..... they got their something special ♥

Happy Reading!

Flat-Out-Love Review

Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park is an emotional yet delightfully hysterical read!

Book description.......
Something is seriously off in the Watkins home. And Julie Seagle, college freshman, small-town Ohio transplant, and the newest resident of this Boston house, is determined to get to the bottom of it. When Julie's off-campus housing falls through, her mother's old college roommate, Erin Watkins, invites her to move in. The parents, Erin and Roger, are welcoming, but emotionally distant and academically driven to eccentric extremes. The middle child, Matt, is an MIT tech geek with a sweet side ... and the social skills of a spool of USB cable. The youngest, Celeste, is a frighteningly bright but freakishly fastidious 13-year-old who hauls around a life-sized cardboard cutout of her oldest brother almost everywhere she goes.   And there's that oldest brother, Finn: funny, gorgeous, smart, sensitive, almost emotionally available. Geographically? Definitely unavailable. That's because Finn is traveling the world and surfacing only for random Facebook chats, e-mails, and status updates. Before long, through late-night exchanges of disembodied text, he begins to stir something tender and silly and maybe even a little bit sexy in Julie's suddenly lonesome soul.  To Julie, the emotionally scrambled members of the Watkins family add up to something that ... well ... doesn't quite add up. Not until she forces a buried secret to the surface, eliciting a dramatic confrontation that threatens to tear the fragile Watkins family apart, does she get her answer.

First I have to give a huge shout out to Jessica Park!  Not only are you an amazing author with an extremely creative writing style but you are an absolutely amazing woman!  Thank you for all you've done for me.  I truly appreciate the support you showed in the awesome letters from Julie, Finn, Matt, and Celeste.... and also your extremely generous gift!  Thank you again Jessica, it's Author's like you that make reading as special as it is to me ♥ !

I don't even know how to begin to describe how I felt about this book.... Julie....I absolutely ♥ Julie!  She is an amazing character!  So caring, understanding, extremely sarcastic in a funny/witty way, and so willing to help out.  She's a beautiful girl with a beautiful personality that you just can't help but fall in love with.  She moved to Boston to attend college but things didn't get started off in her favor.... the apartment she thought she was renting didn't turn out to be what she paid for.  Fortunately her Mom's old friend from College didn't live to far and was able to help Julie out by giving her a place to stay
All she wanted was a normal college experience and the chance to enjoy school without worrying that her friends would think it was ridiculous that she actually liked learning.
Normal is not what Julie got.... instead she got a family that is suffering.... suffering from something huge, something tragic.... BUT no one tells Julie what that something is and Julie being the sweet and understanding person she is just rolls with it.  She accepts them.... all of them including Flat-Finn!

Okay so Matt is this extremely intelligent guy who has pretty much taken over caring for his little sister.  He shelters her because he loves her and just wants to keep her safe.  But by doing that.... by taking over for his parents he lost a part of who he was and Julie starts to bring that out again.  Matt cracks me up....  he totally embraced the inner geek in him.... I ♥ the shirts and he was hysterical in that serious super smart kind of way.  But it was clear that he was holding back, like he couldn't let himself be...well himself entirely.  It was obvious to me, especially after he decorated the tree that he had feelings for Julie and his feelings ran pretty deep.... I kept hoping he would tell her how he felt or come clean about what he was doing and found myself disappointed when he didn't.

Celeste.... I swear that girl was something else.... I absolutely adored Celeste.  Yes she was extremely quirky and had some major issues that needed to be worked out but when she started finding herself with Julies help but still kept that adorable quirkiness about her I couldn't help but want to reach in, pull her out and keep her forever.  It was hard to watch her grow becauset she not only struggled with the fact that Finn was not there but she struggled with not having any friends.  My heart was constantly going out to Celeste and I couldn't help but feel large amounts of joy every time she grew into herself a little more.

So Julie finds Finn on facebook and starts exchanging emails and im's with him..... and it doesn't take long for her feelings towards him to grow.... grow into love.  She depended on Finn to help give her advice not only about the monsters under his bed... but advice on his family and pep her up when she tried a new way to 'help' Celeste.  Their exchanges were funny and sweet.... Finn helped Julie when she was in mid-panic attack while stuck in an elevator by taking her mind off of where she was and telling her about taking her skydiving.... I'm still holding Finn to that skydiving date....tandem ;)  He was also encouraging her efforts in helping Celeste by telling her what a wonderful job she's been doing and how proud he is that her efforts were paying off.

Julie learns pretty quick that not everything is as it seems with the Watkins family and tries her best to change things.... make things better.  And she does, she helps the family grow and start the process of dealing with the issue that should have been dealt with before.  She brings light back into their lives and helps them all individually in one way or another.  She does all this before finding out that something huge the family was hiding.... or I should say ignoring.  Once she finds out she understands why they didn't tell her but she's still heart broken.... not only for them but for herself too.  She thought she found something truly special and it all turned out to be a lie.... at least in her eyes. I was upset with Julie, not that I didn't get why she said what she did and then why she took so long to come around because I did.... but I was still upset with her.

There is so much I'd love to say about this book.... love to quote from this book... but I can't.  I can't because it will give it all away and I've already given away more than I'd prefer.  Jessica did an amazing job with this book.... it felt real... and not to mention the humor.... any book that can make me laugh out loud is a definite keeper ;)

Flat-Out Love is an emotional read with a family that needed the love and support they got from Julie to help them back to reality.... help them deal with the tragedy they all tried to ignore.  It was amazing to watch how one 18 year old girl can step in and change things... make things better... make the entire family want things to be better and actually try to work to get it.  I loved reading this book, I loved watching not only the characters themselves grow but the relationships grow.  Julie formed a bond with each and every member of the Watkins family and even though there is a lot of heartbreak that bond she formed was unbreakable... it was beautiful!

I can't recommend this book enough.  It's not your typical boy meets girl and they fall in love kind of story.... it's got that but it's WAY more.  I connected with each of the characters and I was upset when it was over... I wanted more, I want to know how Celeste is doing, how things are going between Julie and Matt, and how the entire family as a whole is doing.  Flat-Out-Love will remain on my reread list as a book that is a reminder of how special true love is, and most importantly how special family love is!  Seriously.... check it out, you will not be disappointed!!

Happy Reading!

The Perfect Play (Play by Play #1) Review

The Perfect Play (Play By Play) by Jaci Burton is O.M.G. Hot....I mean H.O.T. hot!

Warning.... This book is not for the faint of heart, it contains sexual content not intended for those under the age of 18.

Book description.....

The last thing event planner Tara Lincoln needs is the jet-set lifestyle of a football pro like Mick Riley; even though their steamy and passionate one-night stand proved that Mick is an all-star-both on the field and in the bedroom.  Tara played the game of love once and lost big, and she doesn't intend to put herself out there again, especially with a certified heartbreaker. But when Mick sets his mind to win, nothing will stop him. And he has the perfect play in mind to catch this sultry vixen.

First things first I have GOT to comment on that cover.....HOLY SMOKES that cover is freaking HOT!

Tara is an amazing heroine..... I absolutely ♥ her!  She was funny and beautiful but had no clue just how beautiful she was.  What I loved most, was the fact that she was a wonderful Mother .....absolutely amazing.... to Nathan and you'll understand why I give such a big compliment once you hear her story.  Okay so Tara is an event planner and planed an event for the San Francisco Sabers football team where heart throb Mick Riley takes a special notice to her.

Mick......smokin' hot Mick is not at all what he seems.  He may be the countries best NFL quarterback but this man has brains..... which made him that much hotter ;)... Not to mention take a look at the cover model..... and here's another shot of said cover model... umm YUM!....  Mick knows exactly what he wants.... even though getting what he wants doesn't always work out how he plans.... he still knows that having Tara a part of his life is something he wants, and that includes getting to know all about her.
"I didn't bring you here to seduce you Tara, I just wanted to spend more time with you."
After spending the night together Mick wakes up to find Tara gone and is a little shocked to realize he was disappointed that she was gone because he really wanted to get to know her better.... I have to admit, I was a little bummed myself she was gone... I got why she left but still she could have had a few more hours with him.....right?  Maybe not, maybe her leaving is what caused him to go for the chase....  After finding out a little more about her he sets out to see her again but the welcome reception wasn't all that welcoming.  He knew she wanted to see him again but for some reason was holding back.... again I ask WHY?  Good Lord woman....take the opportunity life is throwing at you and have some fun!  So he brings in the big guns......her girls.  Yep that's right, the man knew exactly what he wanted and he knew how to go about getting that..... and that was to get her friends involved.

Tara didn't want things to continue with Mick past their one night together for a few different reasons..... 1. She wasn't from his world and in her eyes that meant he could have any woman he wanted..... model, actress, ect..... so why would he want her? - Blah sister, you grab that bull by the horns and ride that for as long as you can!  2. She has a son, an almost 15 year old son.... who she puts first and has worked hard......and I mean HARD to provide the life she has for him.... this I get.... totally get, so I can't criticize her for it.  And finally 3.  She knew she needed to protect her heart..... she knew immediately she could fall for him - Okay so you know it's going to hurt when or if he ends things..... but the big one here is IF.... take that chance.... you never know what you'll get and presents are always best after you've opened them!

After Mick.... with the help of her friends..... tricked her into a date.  Tara reluctantly agrees to sit down and get to know him a little better.  He's amazed and little turned on by the fact that Tara not only knows her sports but also knows about Football..... and so their relationship begins.  Mick gets to meet Nathan and likes him.... a lot.... and really liked Tara.... like a lot..... so much so that he struggled with these feelings and knew he needed to be careful or his casual relationship could turn.... not casual
He liked her.  Really liked her.  A lot.  What wasn't to like?  She was beautiful, fun, and sexy, and their chemistry together was explosive.  She was sweet and caring, and if he wasn't careful, he could fall madly in love with her.
I really enjoyed watching Mick and Tara's relationship grow.  He spent time with both Tara and Nathan, he flew them to his hometown to meet his family and took them to one of his brother's games.  He got to know Tara and he not only liked what he saw..... he admired it.  She had a horrible past and over came so many obstacles to get where she was in her career and yet nothing stood in her way to be the mother she was to Nathan.... what's not to admire about that?

Mick did a big thing for Nathan..... when I say he did a big thing.... I mean a huge thing....HUGE!!!  I admired Mick for what he went through, what he over came, and then what he did for Nathan.  Any one who goes to the length Mick went to keep his secret hidden from the media but will trust that secret to a 15 year old in order to prevent that 15 year old from repeating his mistakes has a part of my heart.  I've seen the devastation of what Mick's secret can cause..... hell I watched it from the time I was 5 until I was 28....watched it so closely I learned from it.... it's not as easy as some may think and even though Mick is a fictional character I can't help but feel that compassion towards him for fighting that battle and winning because the person I watched live it lost his life because of it at 38.... (I ♥ you and miss you everyday Jeff).

The relationship between Tara and Mick was growing.... fast and hard.  They both fought to keep their feelings casual... Tara always waiting for the other shoe to drop and for Mick to end things,  and Mick not quite sure what his feelings meant but continuously telling himself he didn't do long-term relationships and with the season getting ready to start he needed his focus elsewhere.  But neither could give up on what they had.

After a charity event planned by the girlfriends and wives of the Sabers team members, Mick's agent, Elizabeth.... who by the way did NOT want Tara in Mick's life, not to mention a complete beotch..... used Nathan as a way to tear them apart.  Tara, obviously, flipped out and until he saw it on the News that night Mick had no idea what was wrong.  The little stunt pulled by Elizabeth forced Mick to finally admit his feelings for Tara and also finally admit his choice of an agent may not be the best
"No, you don't get it.  She's important to me.  what you think - or want - isn't.  I love her.  And if I lose her over this you'll regret it."
There ya go :)  He finally not only admitted his feelings for Tara but took control over his life.  Now I can't help but give this spoiler away because I was DAMN happy that he fired Elizabeth once everything was fixed with Tara.  Not only because of what she pulled but because of her behavior it took Mick a lot....A LOT of coaxing to finally get Tara to listen to him and then it took him sitting back and waiting for her to come to him which he was uncertain of but after sound advice from his Mother knew he had to give her.  He didn't have to wait all that long..... even though it felt like weeks. When she finally came to him he gave her what she wanted..... what she needed to hear because she too was in love but also scared that she waited to long to go to him.  But he didn't hold back and boy was it sweet!
"I've known what I wanted since that night several months ago when I met this beautiful woman in a ballroom.  She was perfect for me."

The Perfect Play (Play By Play) by Jaci Burton was a great read..... it was a fantastic erotic romance.  Jaci is awesome at creating the perfect scenes erotic and otherwise.  It all seems relatively real and comes with heartfelt moments and beautiful exchanges of "I love you's".  I love turning to Jaci Burton books when I need that extra.... something..... in my romance novels.  The Perfect Play will go and stay on my reread list because it gave me all I love in my books..... Sweet romantic story with a sexy as sin bad boy, a strong but loving heroine, and some smokin' hot lovin'!!!

Happy Reading!

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress #1) Review

Book description.......
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.
In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner—are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Cat is a twenty-two year old half vampire who has been killing vampires for 6 years.  She's been programed to despise vampires by her Mother, who I think in a small way is resentful of Cat because she is half 'thing'....I have to admit I got kind of mad at Cat for putting up with how her Mom treated her....I get that she was her Mom and she loved her but Cat deserved the unconditional love only a Mother can give and she certainly did not get that from her Mom!

Using herself as bait to lure vampires out of the clubs so she could drive a stake in their hearts, Cat was succeeding in her mission to destroy the monster that raped her Mom and was unfortunately also her father......that is until she met one very sexy English vampire she couldn't handle.

Bones.....sweet mother of God....Bones.  Picture Spike from Buffy the Vampire (the T.V. Show)!  O.M.G. freaking hot with a sexy English accent that had my mind working overtime not to curl my toes especially when he was trying to dirty talk the blush right out of Cat... the dirty talk....omigod the dirty talk... it's like Eddie from R.C. Rescue all over again.....Bones is so good at the dirty talk it's like he's already in your pants and hasn't even lifted a finger ....I think I need to take a break because remembering all that well..............

So Bones and Cat make a deal.  They work together with conditions....Cat will get to continue on her mission of vengeance but she will only be able to kill the vampires Bones picks.  They work wonderfully together and eventually start to open up to each other.  With some prompting Cat gives Bones a little of her not so happy past when it comes to 'boyfriends' and also confesses she has never been to a club to just dance and have fun.  So when they get to the club the next night Bones tells Cat about her target then takes off into the crowd......little does she know he made himself her target in hopes of giving her a night of dancing and having fun.  He teaches her to dance and she starts to really get into it....so much so her and Bones share their first kiss
"Kitten, you need to make a decision.  Either we stay here and behave or we leave now and I promise you" his voice dipped lower and the words fell against my lips "if we leave, I won't behave."

Cat continues to struggle with what she is feeling towards Bones.  She freaked out the morning after their kiss and struggles with the emotions she's feeling because she wants to be around him but her mind keeps telling her it's better to stay away because he is a monster.....I don't get her hesitation....who cares that he drinks blood, the man is hotter than all get out and he clearly knows how to take care of her while she gets her revenge even if it is against his own kind....come on Girlie - get in there!!!!

Cat finally calls Bones after finding herself in a wee bit of trouble and he comes to her rescue.  After all the clean up Bones finally gets through to Cat and gets her to look at him, look at the man he is instead of the vampire
My God, he was beautiful.  Absolutely, incredibly beautiful, and now that I'd finally allowed myself to notice, I couldn't stop staring.  "Kiss me."
YIPPEEE!!!!!....it's about damn time she realized what she had in Bones.  But even after what they shared together....which by the way was so hot as in a cold shower wouldn't have done anything to cool it down.....she still tries to push him away because of what he is.  Only this time he isn't giving her a choice when it comes to staying away
"I can't just let us go our separate ways, Kitten, because I am in love with you.  I love you."
So Bones and Cat..the couple....begin and I have to say I absolutely ♥ them together.  They're both territorial of each other and let me just tell you Cat's way of showing....someone she considers a threat......that Bones is hers and hers only is downright hysterical!  I mean I LMAO.... I could hardly see straight.  But her reaction pleases Bones....extremely pleases him and he shows his gratitude...... in another one of those cold shower moments..... in the stairwell of a hotel.

They have a few struggles in their relationship.....mostly Cat not wanting to confess to her mother that her boyfriend/love of her life is a blood sucking monster but the deep feelings she has for him don't keep her away for too long.
"I love you, Bones."  A weight seemed to lift from me I hadn't known was there.  Funny how much I'd feared something that shouldn't have frightened me at all.
Sadly the love that Cat feels for Bones runs so deep she is willing to do something that I won't share with you because it will ruin the book but O.M.G. it pissed me off.......Once you've read this book please let me know how you felt about Cat's decision....I want to make sure I'm not the only one who understood her choice but at the same time couldn't believe she actually followed through with it.

Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost is an absolutely awesome read.  The suspense keeps you on your toes and keeps you rooting for the safety of Cat and Bones, the romance is hot and at the same time beautiful, the characters are amazing and so well built.  This was an excellent paranormal read that had me wishing for my very own 240 year old English vampire ;)  Make sure you check it out!  I'm quite anxious to read One Foot in the Grave to find out what happens with our lovely characters next!

Big Thanks to my girl Kim for your help in getting started with this review ♥

Happy Reading!

Rock Chick Rescue (R.C. #2) Review

Rock Chick Rescue by Kristen Ashley is like digging into your favorite treat....having that O.M.G. this is awesome moment and then disappointment when you realize it's all gone.

Book description......
Jet McAlister has a secret. Eddie Chavez has the hots for Jet (not to mention, Eddie's just, plain hot). Jet has too many problems to realize that Eddie's interested. Eddie loses patience when Jet ends her waitressing shift at a strip club with a knife at her throat. Since Eddie's a cop, he figures he can help. Since Jet's used to solving everyone's problems, she doesn't want Eddie's help. Throw in a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet's ne'er-do-well father, his ne'er-do-well friend, Bear, Bear's long-suffering, chain-smoking wife Lavonne and the crew from Rock Chick and you've got Rock Chick Rescue. Rock Chick Rescue takes you on a wild ride with Jet, Eddie and the gang as they wrestle bad guys in a bagel shop, hit Denver's backstreet poker tables (with big hair), and help the strippers at Smithie's take down a would-be murderer. Through this, Jet's got to learn that, even when life made you give up your dreams, you can still end up with the (hot) guy. Eddie's got to rescue Jet from a bad man (so he can do better things with her) and teach her that some dreams can come true.

I started RC Rescue thinking there was no way it could compare to Rock Chick but boy was I wrong.  It was awesome and as much as I absolutely LOVE Lee and Indy I have to say that RC Rescue was just a tad better.  We still get to see our amazing characters from Rock Chick but we're also introduced to more A-MAZ-ING secondary characters that seriously are fantastic....so fantastic I wish they were real....hmmmm maybe they are and I just need to move to Denver and get myself a little job at Fortnum's?

Okay so.... Jet ....I ♥ Jet, she was that girl next door type who thought she was boring and ordinary but in all reality is that girl that has so much heart and so much love to give it's almost like she's got a big ole heart on her belly with a rainbow shooting out....crap that's a care bear.....but you know what I mean.  Jet is the backbone of her family.  She's the one they all turn to when something is wrong or she just steps up before even being asked.  Only this time the trouble her Dad is in and turning to her for help about is not the kind of trouble Jet can fix.  So in steps our ultra sexy Eddie Chavez.... Jet has had a crush.....no, not even a crush, the girl's been in love with him since she saw him ;) but anyway, she thinks he's out of her league so she tries everything she can to avoid him but Eddie has his eye on Jet and is determined to learn ALL about 'Just Jet'.

Eddie....sweet Jesus I actually got flutters when reading about him.  It seems like he freaking wrote the book on how to flirt....O.M.G. he flirts so good it's like he's already gotten in your pants and fled the scene...not to mention he's the definition of sex-in-cowboy-boots.... sorry I'm okay now.....and guess who comes with Eddie????....Lee and his boys....mmmmm... 'The Hot Bunch'.  Anyway....Eddie gets Jet cornered makes his intentions quite clear
"I've been tryin' to get your attention for months but you're so busy and exhausted and whatever the hell else you are, it hasn't worked.  So I'll say, straight out, so there's no confusion.  I want to spend time with you, I want to get to know you and I want to sleep with you and it doesn't have to be in that order."
Ummm...WOW....Even after saying this Jet still has it in her head that she needs to get away from him because he has heartbreak written all over him and she still thinks he's out of her league.....Seriously the girl is crazy because if Eddie Chavez gave me even a little hint of a look, I'd.....oh never mind.  Fortunately, Eddie is one determined man and plans on making his play to wear Jet down.  Funny thing...well not funny about the bad stuff but still.... is Jet has bad guys pulling knives and guns on her, guys kidnapping her for 'chats' about her Dad, and one really bad guy threatening to do very bad things to her.....so in all reality it's like fate is just throwing her into Eddies willing and waiting arms ;)

Jet starts to open up to Eddie....well only because he's very persistent... but she confesses that she can't let go, can't let the tears flow and let someone help her out in any way because no one will be there to catch her
"Everyone's got their hands out waitin' for you to take one.  Carina, you gotta learn when to take someone's hand before you fall."
I have to say it broke my heart that Jet felt that way but at the same time I got it.  She didn't want to ask for help because it's easier to just do it yourself but then you don't realize how deep you've gotten until you can't see the surface anymore and at that point don't know how to ask for help. Fortunately Jet doesn't need to ask, she's got some awesome people in her life that plan on taking care of her whether she wants it or not.....I get that too (big hugs to my Girls ♥ ).

So some stuff goes down with Jet which makes Eddie pull the g-word card.....gasp....he called her his girlfriend and made it known to the Denver world that Jet is branded.  But Jet....silly girl....keeps her guard up....way up and keeps trying to tell Eddie that things aren't going to work out.  I mean seriously what is wrong with her....if I wasn't happily married Eddie could do a fly by on me and I'd be good....but he wants to see where things go with her and she....doesn't????  O.M.G.  get your head in the game sister, you have got a smokin' hot Denver Cop that wants to not only give you the business but get to know you too!  He even tells her in so many words what he would do for her to make her cookies for him all the time
"Trixie was wrong, Chocolate sheet cake bought you protection.  Make these for me and I'll put a ring on your finger."
Jeez....I'm thinking Jet needs another Eddie 'chat'......OMG the Eddie 'chats'....I swear if my husband wanted to chat with me the way Eddie has his 'chats' I would do whatever he told me too....which would be huge for him considering I'm always doing the opposite of what he wants :)

Even though Eddie has pretty much done everything but cuff Jet to the bed.....sorry had a little mental image I didn't want to let go of..... she still goes off trying to find her Dad and finds quite a bit of trouble a long the way with the Rock Chicks at her back.  The Rock Chicks are freakin awesome.....those girls know how to have fun even if it comes with cat fights and stun guns!

This quote is just something I have to share
"I was used to dreaming of Eddie, I hadn't dreamt of Hank yet.  Dreaming of Hank and Eddie was probably not a good thing."
Is she crazy???  That would be a FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC dream and and even better than a good thing....just sayin'
So once all of Jet's troubles are sorted she tries the whole breaking up with Eddie thing....again....and again Eddie gives Jet one of his 'chats'.  When that doesn't seem to penetrate....OMG I just realized the coincidence of that word LOL.....they have an actual talk, Jet confesses her feelings for him thinking this will push him away but boy is she wrong....so he lays it out for her....again
"Jet, I don't know what's gonna happen and I can't promise anything but I do know I don't want this to end.  What we have is good, it's so fuckin' good, it's great."
Rock Chick Rescue was awesome.  I loved Jet and Eddie's story, I connected with them, and as usual with Kristen's books I was consumed by them.  I don't know what it is about endearments in a foreign language but good Lord I was a sucker for all those Spanish endearments Eddie was giving Jet....funny thing is I only know French so I had to look over half of them up lol.... I absolutely loved this book, everything about it and plus some.  The characters are so well built that they seem real it's like you're actually watching everything that's going on.  The secondary characters are just as awesome and I have to admit I want to meet Daisy, I ♥ her and her big hair and denim!!!  Rock Chick Rescue is a definite read....it's funny, it's emotional, it's romantic in it's own kind of way, and has lots of action....*cough* both kinds that is ;).  Rock Chick is one series you will not be disappointed in so make sure you check it out!!!

Happy Reading!
