One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress #2) Review

One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 2) by Jeaniene Frost is an awesome second book in this addicting series.

*This review will contain spoilers if you have not read  Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 1)yet.  Check out the review of book one Here.

Book description....
You can run from the grave, but you can't hide . . .Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She's still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind. Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she'll find that desire lasts forever . . . and that Bones won't let her get away again.

Okay so I'm going to start off by saying this book totally made up for me being so pissed off at Cat for leaving Bones at the end of Half Way to the Grave....in more ways than you're thinking too and I'll give you a little hint....Chapter 32.... just sayin' ;-)

Cat is now working for the FBI in a special department that investigates paranormal activity.  She's acquired a team that consists of..... Don (her boss), Tate, Juan, Dave, and Cooper (These names will be important later as you'll see a lot of them throughout the series.).  They work together in tracking down vampires that they either kill or capture.  On an assignment Cat comes in contact with one of Bones life long friends, Ian, and ends up letting him go with his life because she feels that she owes Bones for all he did for her..... plus she's still madly in love with him.  Because of this she has now caught Ian's attention and now Ian wants to "acquire" her for himself.

Cat and Bones are still estranged from each other but that changes when they see each other for the first time....or at least Cat sees Bones for the first time in four years at her best friend Denise's wedding.  She tries to avoid him at all costs because she knows that her self control is very minimal around him
Why did he have to be so gorgeous, why did he have to stand so close, and why did I still love him so much?
Bones sets out to make a point...... knowing she has a silver knife in her hands and has the opportunity to kill him, he bites her and drinks her blood slowly to give her time to make her choice.  She does by dropping the knife and clinging to Bones.....can he get any hotter?  I mean seriously the guy is so freaking hot I wanted to reach in the book and pull him out and keep him in my pocket so I could hear him talk in that sexy accent anytime I want.  Not to mention I had this urge to reach in the book and smack Cat for not running to his arms, profess her undying love for him, and apologize profusely for leaving him....I'm still a little mad at her for that.

Cat knows she can't live without Bones but still tries to keep her distance.  Bones doesn't plan on letting her get away again because just like Cat, he couldn't live with out her and asks for her trust so they can be together
"So you tried to get on with your life because you believed it would never work between us.  But you see, I couldn't get on with my life because I knew we could work.  I've been looking for you every day since you left me, Kitten, and I'm sick of being without you.  You've had your shot at things, now let me have mine."
Seriously.....how could she resist him?  She has his understanding of why she left him and he's asking for another shot at them together because he has no doubts.  BUT....she still thinks her age will hurt them and he'll get tired of her..... take it as long as you can get it sister.....I know I would ;-)  Bones lets her in on a little secret regarding her lifespan that Don knew about so Cat being Cat flies off the handle and gives Don a little piece of her mind..... then takes a week off work ;)

Finally.....FINALLY...... Cat gives Bones his shot, there are conditions but he doesn't care what they are as long as Cat is in his life again. Their celebrating is short lived because not only does her Mother find out but one of her team members watches Bones walk into Cat's  house.  So she gets called into work and is forced to listen to and see her team treat her as though she is putting all them in jeopardy all because of a dead guy
"You know the old saying, Once you go dead, no one's better in bed."
O.M.G.....♥ it!  It was perfect timing!  Her team is NOT happy about Bones being around and they take to watching her even more closely.  It's not until Cat is almost murdered by a hit man, Bones sneaks into the compound and finds the person responsible for Cat's almost murder that the team....with the exception of Tate..... accepts Bones being a part of them.  Not that they really accept him because after all he is still a vampire, but they realize that he has Cat's best interest in mind and will do anything to not only keep her safe but make her happy.  Plus he goes beyond and helps out one of the team members.... in a pretty big way... such a big way that the rest of the team was not only grateful but also looked at Bones in a new light!

I absolutely LOVE Cat and Bones together.....he's so smitten and in love that he literally does anything and everything to make her happy and she is so territorial of him that....well just wait until you read why she wanted chapter 32 to happen the way it happened ;-) although she got it a little better than asked for.....

One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 2)  by Jeaniene Frost is a highly entertaining read that will have you begging for more....Begging for more Cat and Bones that is.  I'm anxious to start At Grave's End and see what happens next with our adorable couple.  Jeaniene has done such an amazing job at building up the characters that you feel a connection with them, you can't help but root for the happily ever after for Cat and Bones!  The secondary characters are just as amazing, they're well rounded and just as much a part of the story as our main characters.  After reading Halfway to the Grave you definitely have to read One Foot in the Grave.... you will not be disappointed and if you're like me and got mad at Cat....well you may still be frustrated with her but you'll be over-joyed that she's back with Bones and even more over-joyed with the ending of One Foot in the Grave!

Happy Reading!
