The Secret of Ella and Micah (The Secret #1) Review

The Secret of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen

Book description...
Ella and Micha have been best friends since they were kids. But one tragic night shatters their friendship and their lives forever.
Ella used to be a rule-breaker with fiery attitude who wore her heart on her sleeve. But she left everything behind when she went to college and transformed into someone that follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. But now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home.
Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door. If Micha tries to tempt the old her back, she knows that it will be hard to resist.
Micha is sexy, smart, confident, and can get under Ella’s skin like no one else can. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. And he’s determined to bring his best friend, and the girl he loves back, no matter what it takes.

Before I had even read the book description I knew that The Secret of Ella and Micah was going to be something to check out... because just look at that cover!  It's hot and beautiful all at the same time.  But then I read the description and I thought... Hmm, this looks interesting.  Because of prior commitments I didn't get a chance to read it until tonight and I have to say that I'm glad I waited... because this book and the emotions it's brought out in me, was more than worth the wait.  I couldn't put it down, I sat down after putting the kids to bed and literally read straight through to the end... only pausing long enough to have a short chat with the hubs.  I was so wrapped up in these characters that I had to know what was going to happen next.

Ella is this beautiful yet extremely damaged girl who has been running from her problems since one extremely tragic night.  She's lost and is feeling guilty.  She feels like the only way she can make up for the tragedy she feels responsible for is to become the opposite of what she's always been... who she's supposed to be.  That is until she heads home for the first time in months to face her past.  She's calm on the outside but a complete wreck on the inside and it just made me want to hug her and tell her everything would be okay... she would be okay.  But she's got a hard past to face and one of the hardest things for her to face was her feelings for her best friend Micah, who she had run from without letting him know where she was going.

I absolutely loved Micah.  He acts like your typical bad boy but under all those layers lays a young man who is determined to get not only his best friend but the girl he has been in love with back.  She may know how to push his buttons like no one else but deep down he loves every emotion she brings out in him.  He just loves her and everything out her, so seeing the girl that has returned home after leaving without a word, he feels conflicted because she's not the same, and he plans on stopping at nothing to not only bring the girl he loves back but to keep her.

The things Micah and Ella have been through were rough.  Neither of them had easy lives but they did have each other which was the only reason they managed to become the people the were... even if a little running from their problems was involved.  Their story is heartbreaking to a point but their love for each other is passionate and unconditional.  I can say in all honesty that I am most definitely looking forward to the sequel.  Jessica really doesn't leave you with a cliffhanger but she definitely left me wanting more!

Happy Reading!
